Out of the Darkness Community Walk
Bayside will be participating in the Out of the Darkness Community Walk benefiting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention this Sunday (October 20) .

The Peer Helpers will be walking in support of the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation , which was founded as a suicide awareness program.

We invite all members of our Bayside community to join us in promoting hope over despair. All participants are encouraged to wear a Bayside shirt and meet at 1:00 p.m. at Daphne Centennial Park.
Bayside's Art Guild Wins Jubilee Fest
The Upper School Art Guild, under the leadership of senior Anna Schmidt and junior Hannah Wieland , won first place in the Jubilee Festival of Arts Student Art Competition hosted by the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce.

Artists were asked to create works of art from trash rescued from Mobile Bay to line up with the spirit of Jubilee and the growing commitment to protect Mobile Bay. Under the guidance of Bayside's art faculty, the Art Guild created a large jellyfish sculpture—mounted on a found driftwood board—comprised of trash that was or could be found in the bay, along with photographic images of threatened marine life.

This is the second year for Bayside artists to bring home the top prize. The exhibition is open to all high school students from Spanish Fort High School, Daphne High School, Fairhope High School, St. Michael Catholic High School, Bayshore Christian School, and Bayside Academy.

Congratulations to our outstanding artists!
Young Engineers
The second quarter Gulf Coast Young Engineers camp begins next week! Sign up today for your child to learn mathematical principles and a wide range of physical laws of science through robotic LEGO models. The group will meet every Tuesday from October 22 –December 17 from 3:15 4:45 p.m. in the Innovation Center.
College Counseling
The Charlotte Longfield National Flight Academy Scholarship opportunity is posted on the college counseling webpage. Through the generosity of Steve and Charlotte Longfield, a Bayside sophomore or junior will have this opportunity. Please encourage sophomore and junior students with an interest in STEM fields to apply by the deadline.

Parents of seniors interested in Auburn—this is a reminder that all application materials (application with essays, test score(s), and transcript/profile) must be on file in the Auburn admissions office (not postmarked) by November 1. As long as there is one ACT score on file for admissions purposes, Auburn will be able to make a decision. If an updated score is sent, it must be received by December 15 (scholarship deadline) to be used for scholarship purposes. Students who meet the November 1st deadline will receive an accepted, deferred, or denied decision on December 1. Due to the changes in Auburn’s admissions procedure, seniors have an opportunity to have a one-on-one conference with our recruiter, Josh Huggins. Interested seniors MUST sign up for these slots. They need to see Mrs. Blackwell to be scheduled for one of these meetings.

Parent Coffee, October 29
Dr. Brian J. Dew, Chair of the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services at Georgia State University, will be on campus Tuesday, October 29 to address the vaping epidemic and substance abuse trends among teens. Dr. Dew will conduct a parent session followed by an Upper School assembly. The parent coffee will be free and open to the public. Please plan to park at May Day Park.

Dr. Dew is an expert with an extensive resume: "Prior to assuming his current department chair position in 2011, Dr. Dew coordinated the Masters and Ed.S. programs in mental health counseling at GSU. Prior to his academic position at GSU, Dr. Dew worked for four years as a substance abuse counselor in an inpatient and outpatient, hospital-based setting. In this role, he developed and directed an intensive family program gearing toward educating the non-addict on aspects of recovery. Over the past 12 years, Dr. Dew has served as Atlanta’s primary representative to the National Institute on Drug Abuse’s (NIDA’s) Community Epidemiological Work Group. Dr. Dew has been awarded the Outstanding Faculty Research Award from Georgia State University’s College of Education and Human Development and the Outstanding Addictions and Offender Professional Award by the Association of Addictions and Offender Counseling, a division of the American Counseling Association."
Tee Off for Bayside
The 28th Annual John A. Robertson Golf Tournament will be held on Tuesday, November 5 at The Lakewood Club in Point Clear. Thank you to Scotch Plywood Company for being the presenting sponsor and to Effie and Ty Thompson for chairing the event.

This tournament directly benefits Bayside Academy and our students.

The late John A. Robertson, for whom the tournament is named, was a founding father of Bayside and served as chairman of the school's original Board of Directors.

We hope you will come join us for a wonderful time on the links!
