In light of much conversation within our movement, Church of God Ministries General Director Jim Lyon will be going live on Facebook on Friday, June 9 from 1:00-2:30 PM EDT.

While this time will be used to address the Movement regarding the conversation surrounding chogaffirm.com, a website recently launched by an independent group of people with ties to the Movement, we also hope to engage in dialogue that will bring clarity and unity.

Credentials Update - Rev. Jeff Tomlinson

Greetings in the Lord Jesus! I wanted to share a few updates about Credentialing and some changes coming to Leadership Focus. First, let’s talk about Annual Registration with Church of God Ministries and the Yearbook. Each year credentialed Ministers and Ordained Clergy are required to register for the Yearbook. This process has been an online process for the past few years and continues to be so. Current costs for Ministers are $40. However, that is increasing to $60 on July 1, 2023. So, register early! Also, our Churches are required to register annually. Currently the cost is $65, but that is increasing significantly to $210 on July 1, 2023. There will be another increase on July 1, 2024. Ministers fee will be $85 and Churches will be $360.

Annual registration is now accomplished through ATLAS. If you do not have an account with ATLAS, you can sign up and set up your profile at mychogatlas.org. Once you have an account set up you will be able to renew your annual registration as a Minister and as a Church. If you experience technical issues with this process, please contact Church of God Ministries at 800-848-2464 and one of the team members will be able to help you.

We are currently going through continuing training in using ATLAS. As your Credentials Chairperson for CDP and working with the CDP Elder Board, I am learning how to use this new tool for our ministry together.

Another opportunity to help in your local church ministry will soon be available here in CDP. It is called MissionInsite and will be available to provide important demographic information for your zip code. This should be a help in planning local church outreach and ministry where you live and serve. I will keep you aware of this new tool and its availability in the coming weeks.

We now have a new Credentials Manual for 2023. If you would like to read or download a copy, you can contact Pauline Neal at Church of God Ministries (PNeal@chog.org).

There is also a new track in the Leadership Focus program for those already ordained in another Wesleyan Holiness faith group, who would like to affiliate with the Church of God. If you are interested in that type of training opportunity, or you know someone who may be interested, please contact me for the information (jtomlinson9278@gmail.com).

We have a couple of credentialing events coming up in June in CDP District.

On Saturday, June 3 was an installation service at Community Church of God in Arlington, Virginia for Rev. Frank Green, III as the new Pastor (pictured).

On Wednesday, June 7, at 7:00pm, there will be an Ordination Service for Minister Josh Falke at Fairfax Community Church, Fairfax, Virginia.

Leadership Focus is currently at work in this current semester. We have five persons in the program and at least one newly enrolled person waiting to begin in the Fall. If you are interested in Leadership Focus, or have someone in your congregation who is seeking Ministerial training, please contact Pastor Jeff Tomlinson at jtomlinson9278@gmail.com. The deadline for enrollment for the Fall session is July 30.

Please remember to pray for those enrolled in Leadership Focus, as well as your Credentials Committee for CDP.

CHOG Finance Webinar

During the Convention, the General Assembly will hear reports from agencies, our General Director Jim Lyon, and a presentation of the 2021-2022 Church of God Ministries finances and proposed 2023-2024 budget. Ahead of the GA sessions in

Tampa, we are offering a Town Hall gathering, where we will address questions about the finances.

Effective stewardship is best found with intentional partnership. Virginia State Youth Convention - Oct 6-8

CDP Church of God congregations have been invited to participate in the Church of God Virginia State Youth Convention in October. This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow Church of God congregations and allow our youth to get together and have fun.

CHOG Convention & GA | June 22-25

The Church of God in the United States and Canada will meet in Tampa in June 2023 for its biennial Convention and General Assembly. More than routine, this meeting will also set the stage for a historic global assembly of the Movement, as a new international partnership, drawing together 100 Church of God assemblies at work in twenty-three time zones, convenes for the first time.

In every nation, at home and abroad, there are mountains to climb, souls to save, wrongs to right, Kingdom truths to bring to life, and tests to overcome. Plenary and elective sessions will inspire and teach, even as they tackle tough stuff and big questions. Cancer? War? Hunger? Division? Fear? Death? Everything will be framed by this reassuring and empowering truth: He’s got the whole world in His hands.

“He existed before anything else and He holds all creation together” (Colossians 1:17 NLT).

Like those who originally imagined the iconic spiritual, never give up; look up. Jesus is the subject.
