Camp Meeting on Zion's Hill Lays Foundation to "Revive and Rebuild"

Though the Camp Meeting of the National Association of the Church of God convenes at a place called Zion’s Hill, the annual gathering of the saints is nothing short of a mountaintop experience. Sometimes such spiritually lofty moments fade upon descent from the summit, but when the Father in heaven speaks, when Jesus is exalted above all, and when the Holy Spirit’s presence is powerful, the implications are anything but fleeting.

CDP General Assembly - Sept 23

Join us on September 23rd at 9:00 AM for the CDP General Assembly. Cornerstone Church in Columbia, MD, will be hosting the Assembly. Our guest speaker is Rev. Howard Hammond from Springdale Community Church.

This year we are combining the General Assembly with CDP CONNECT so we encourage all members of CDP churches to attend. This is a time for all of us to Celebrate, Disciple, and Partner together.

It is important to us to make the General Assembly a hybrid event again this year. There are many people who cannot attend in-person because of travel distance, or who may be sick. We want to remove barriers from making us feel like one united body in Christ. When you register please indicate whether you plan to come in-person or virtually.

A time to Connect

For several years, many of the events held in the district were designed only for leaders in our churches. These meetings were important, but very few opportunities were available for the rest of the members of the Church of God congregations in the region to fellowship together.

Last year we held an event called CDP CONNECT in August where all members of CDP churches were invited to come together to Celebrate, Disciple, and Partner. Pastor Richard Smith of The Movement Church in Columbia, MD, spoke on the theme of “Moving Forward Together” as we transitioned out of the pandemic. We had tremendous success and heard from most of the attendees that this was needed. CDP CONNECT is happening again in 2023, but this time as a part of the General Assembly on September 23rd. Everyone will gather for worship and fellowship, and we will share a meal together.

While church leaders participate in the business meeting a panel discussion and conversations around tables will happen for everyone else to talk about some of the issues facing the church today. One key topic is the number of Millennials and Gen Z leaving the church nationally and within our own congregations. What can we do to reconnect with them and reach out to our world? Since many of our pastors will be attending the business meeting we encourage other members our churches to come and be a part of the discussion so they can bring feedback to their local community.

Congregations Bring Kingdom to Life as September Starts

The mission of Church of God Ministries is to serve "the General Assembly by empowering the people of God to collectively build a Jesus-centered, biblically grounded Movement that brings the kingdom to life on earth as it is in heaven."

Virginia State Youth Convention - Oct 6-8

CDP Church of God congregations have been invited to participate in the Church of God Virginia State Youth Convention in October. This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow Church of God congregations and allow our youth to get together and have fun.
