MONTHLY INSPIRATION
Lions are teaming up with the International Diabetes Federation to increase awareness of diabetes, a disease that affects 1 in 11 people. Lions International has accepted a challenge to screen 1 million people for type 2 diabetes.
Governor's Message
Went to Milan Italy, and had a great time. That said, I'm glad to be back home in the the United States. Since I've been back, I've been visiting Clubs, and now I'm getting ready to attend the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum, which takes place Sept. 19-21 in Spokane, Washington. Hope to learn a lot while I'm there, plus I'll be scouting for a potential speaker for our District 1-F Lions Convention, which is set for March 13-15, 2020.

Please remember to report any new members and all of your club's service activities using the MyLions website. If you need help using the website, just give Lions International a call.

Just a heads up: I'll be reaching out to the Secretary and/or President of each District 1-F Lions Club as I work out a schedule of club visits.

Lions & Rotary clubs co-host Trivia For A Cause Sept. 21
The Schaumburg-Hoffman Lions Club and the Schaumburg A.M. Rotary Club Foundation are co-hosting Trivia For A Cause, a fundraiser set for 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, at Poplar Creek Bowl, 2354 W. Higgins Rd., Hoffman Estates.

District 1-F Lions Service Project
WHAT: Pillowcases for Pediatric Cancer

WHEN: 9 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, Sept. 28

WHERE: Lake Zurich Lions' Den, 81 E. Main Street, Lake Zurich

WHO: Any and all Lions. No sewing skills required

WHY & HOW: Volunteers will cut, pin and sew bright, colorful pillowcases to put a smile on the faces of children fighting cancer.

BBQ Meat Raffle
The Lake Zurich Lions Club is sponsoring a BBQ Meat Raffle at noon Sunday, Oct. 6th, at the Scoreboard Bar & Grill, 84 N. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich. Raffle tickets are $1 each, and winners must be present to win.

Candy Day fundraising begins Oct. 11
WHAT: Lions of Illinois Foundation fundraiser to help people with hearing and visual impairments

WHEN: Begins Oct. 11th, but clubs can continue to raise donations well beyond the Candy Day

WHERE: Ask to stand out in front of your local, amenable grocery stores; or if you're adventurous, get permission to stand at a busy intersection.


District 1-F Halloween Bash & Pig Pen Derby

Save the date of Friday, Oct. 25th for the District 1-F Lions Halloween Bash & Pig Pen Derby, which begins at 6 p.m. at The Grove Banquets, 301 N. Weiland Rd., Buffalo Grove. Dinner begins at 7 p.m. As you can see from the photo above, the pigs are ready to race!
