Anthem, Inc. to Acquire Beacon Health Options This week, Anthem announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire Beacon Health Options (Beacon). Through its affiliated companies, Anthem serves more than 78 million people, including over 40 million within its family of health plans. This transaction currently does not alter any Beacon or Anthem provider agreements. Both companies will continue to abide by our respective physician and health care professional contracts. It will be business as usual for you and your patients.   Upon completion of this transaction, which is expected to be sometime near the end of 2019, we will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary within Anthem’s Diversified Business Group , which focuses on innovative solutions and care delivery models to personalize and integrate care for those with complex and chronic conditions.   Thank you for helping make us a leader in behavioral health managed care. Learn More Psychological/ Neuropsychological Testing Claims Are you receiving psychological/ neuropsychological claim denials? In the months since these new CPT codes became effective, Beacon has observed the following common denial trends: Lack of prior authorization on file Add-on codes billed without primary stand-alone code Claims submitted with a primary medical diagnosis instead of a behavioral health diagnosis Lack of authorization for out-of-network provider to see a member using an in-network benefit Claims submitted outside of timely filling limits All add-on codes must be billed together with a primary stand-alone code on the same claim using the service conclusion date. New Authorization Enhancements Available in Provider Portal This spring we introduced new authorization request features on ProviderConnect. You now have the ability to initiate concurrent reviews, step/transfer reviews, and discharges from a listing of their prior authorizations. Access these new features in multiple ways: The new Prior Authorization Listing link on the ProviderConnect home page Upon starting an authorization or notification request from the Member Demographic screen or via the Request an Authorization/Notification link You can sort, find a prior authorization, and initiate a concurrent review, step/transfer, or discharge for the selected prior authorization. In addition, you may request a new initial review from this page. You can also initiate a concurrent review, step/transfer, or discharge review from the authorization summary page.   For additional details about these new features, review the ProviderConnect User Guide. ProviderConnect and Military OneSource ProviderConnect will be unavailable June 21-23 to perform standard maintenance. Serving those who Serve: Military OneSource Contract Awarded for Five More Years! We are excited to announce that ValueOptions Federal Services Inc. (a Beacon Health Options company) was awarded the Military OneSource contract for another five years. Audit elements are based on state and federal regulations. The audit tool will be available via email. Recently, Health First Colorado (Colorado's Medicaid program) expanded its dental benefit to include adults over the age of 21. We encourage our Colorado providers to help spread the word.
