The Beacon Hill Friday Rundown
Greetings! Things are a bit quieter around campus at Beacon Hill. While we’re all looking forward to being together in person again, we’ve implemented a few new ways for our residents to connect to each other and their families:

Resident activity web page: beaconhillgr.org/activities
  • Email a resident
  • Pen pal program
  • Exercise videos
  • Shared recipes
  • Words of encouragement from fellow residents
  • The Chaplain’s corner

Amazon Fire tablets distributed to our Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, and Memory Support residents for in-room activity

Increased chaplain service to offer additional support for residents as well as staff
Thankfully, as of today, there are no confirmed cases campus wide. We’re continuing our stringent safety precautions which include:

  • 1919 residents asked to limit visitors to necessary visits only

  •  Emergency team is monitoring daily updates and implementing any new safety procedures

  • Managing PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) community wide, working together with health organizations in our local community for access to as much as possible, continuing to build our supply

  • Continuing to screen residents, staff and visitors on a daily basis upon entering Beacon Hill - We are asking 1919 residents to self-screen if they leave the community and come back

  • Limiting dining room seating, and encouraging meal delivery service
We can’t do any of this without our wonderful staff, who come in every day with a smile on their face to help our residents feel safe and comfortable.

We conducted an employee survey this week to assess the needs of our staff, and are working on ways to help make their lives easier while they’re at work and at home.

One pressing issue for our staff is concern about meals. Whether there’s anxiety about going to the grocery store, or concerns about bills, we never want anyone of our employees or their families to worry about where their next meal is coming from. We’re implementing a take-home meal program for all of our employees to bring them home at the end of their shift. We’re also opening a tab at our Garden Café and Bistro for our staff members to receive a meal during their shift.

Another need that employees are facing is childcare assistance. Gilden Woods in Breton Village has agreed to partner with Beacon Hill to offer our essential workers access to immediate childcare. During the time of the executive order, Beacon Hill employees will have access to immediate, subsidized childcare.

As always, thank you to everyone for your continued cooperation in making Beacon Hill a safe, healthy and wonderful place for our residents to live.
