30th ANNUAL LOUIS BAILEY GOLF TOURNAMENT

Thank you to everyone who came out to support The Arc of the South Shore at the 30th Annual Louis Bailey Golf Tournament on Monday, September 18th. The day was quite rainy and cold, but our supporters prevailed and raised crucial funds for our programs.

We would like to thank our sponsors, donors, Harvard Pilgrim volunteers and staff for another fantastic tournament! Each year, we sincerely appreciate the support from our local community and the Bailey family for making this annual event possible.

THE ARC EMPLOYEE FUN COMMITTEE

The Arc of the South Shore has a new committee - the Employee FUN Committee (EFC)! This committee is comprised of a group of Arc staff members who are dedicated to creating fun employee engagement events throughout the year.

The EFC kicked off the beginning of its program by recently hosting a delicious pizza afternoon. Arc  employees were able to sit outside and hang out with their peers  from different  programs during lunch. It was a fantastic turnout!

Coming up in 2017 and 2018, the EFC has committed

to host 4 signature events, including a dinner dance,
karaoke night, bowling and summer BBQ for staff and their family members!

In addition to the signature events, the EFC plans to host more lunch socials, yoga workshops, cultural activities and so much more!!!

MEET LOU RIZZO, ARC BOARD OF DIRECTOR
lou
The Arc of the South Shore would like to introduce you to one of our newest Board of Directors, Lou Rizzo. He originally came to The Arc many years ago when his daughter, Marykate, was in need of our services. As a parent, his first concern was to find a program that Marykate would enjoy and also benefit her well-being.
Lou Rizzo pictured with his wife, Deb

She especially enjoyed the Saturday programs at The Arc. Rizzo  was impressed with The Arc and wanted to continue to give back to the place Marykate sought support.  As a board member, Rizzo wants to raise more awareness for The Arc and teach more people in the community about the programs we offer. He recognizes that branding is more important than ever before as we grow and expand our programs. When Rizzo thinks of the The Arc, he feels it symbolizes bringing people together and taking care of them from first early intervention years, all the way through the course of life.

When he is not dedicating his time to The Arc, Rizzo works for Senator Patrick O'Connor as his District Coordinator serving Weymouth, Hingham, Hull, Cohasset, Scituate, Norwell, Marshfield and Duxbury. His regular duties as District Coordinator include monthly meetings at the Council on Aging Centers within each town. During these meetings, senior constituents are invited to join in and seek assistance for a problem they may have. Rizzo also attends events with Senator O'Connor including memorials, grand openings, business visits, veteran events, parades, etc. Before working for Senator O'Connor, Rizzo worked for UPS for more than 39 years before he decided to retire and start a new chapter.

Outside of work and board member duties, Rizzo enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, working in his yard and hitting the beach. He loves to stay busy and even found the time to speak to our CDBS individuals about his job and family!
