Southeastern MA Legislative Breakfast

On Friday morning, January 23, 2015, The Arc of the South Shore hosted the Southeastern MA Legislative Breakfast in partnership with GROW Associates, Inc., Friendship Home, Inc. and The Brockton Area Arc.  The breakfast was held at Lombardo's in Randolph.

With over 200 attendees, including more than 12 state legislatures, including Representative James Murphy (pictured above) we had the opportunity to discuss FY16 priorities: keeping families together, promoting work and self sufficiency and Autism support and services. We had some wonderful speakers addressing the very important issues legislatures will be voting on. But, most importantly, we were enriched by listening to the self advocates and parents of the inidividuals we serve discuss just how vital these services are and the impact of these services in their day to day lives. A big thank you to all of our legislatures for taking the time to come out and participate in this very important event.

Mingle and Jingle - A Family Holiday Concert

This past December, The Arc of the South Shore hosted our very first Mingle and Jingle - A Family Holiday Concert!! The concert was held on December 18 at The Center for the Arts, Thayer Academy in Braintree, MA featuring The Atlantic Symphony Orchestra. With over 200 attendees, many of our individuals, staff and sponsors were able to enjoy this festive evening. We would like to thank our generous sponsors, Twinbrook Insurance Brokerage, Inc., Liberty Bay Credit Union and Commonwealth Financial Group.

The Atlantic Symphony Orchestra performed a very interactive concert, including a sing-a-long, the opportunity to conduct Stars and Stripes and a very special visit from Santa Claus! It was a wonderful and festive night and a great way to celebrate the holiday season with our Arc friends and family!

Weymouth is Everything

On December 21st, the facebook page, Weymouth Is Everything and founder Michael Brooks hosted a charity event to celebrate the first anniversary of the webpage. The event raised over $10,000, and The Arc of the South Shore was chosen as one of 5 recipients for the proceeds of the event. Most importantly, the event raised awareness for the services and programs that The Arc provides throughout the South Shore.   The event was held at Hajjar's Bar and Grille in Weymouth, and included a comedy show, as well as a silent and live auction.  Thank you to everyone for your support.

Massachusetts Bay Self-Insurance Group

MBSIG employees purchased, wrapped and delivered holiday gifts for several children in our Early Intervention Program, as well as gifts for participants of our many other programs.  They also donated gift cards to purchase a karaoke machine.  The Arc of the South Shore greatly appreciates their kindness and generosity.

The Hanover Mall Giving Tree Contest

This past holiday season, The Arc of the South Shore participated in the Hanover Mall's Giving Tree Contest. The Arc was one of eight local charities selected to participate in the contest. Each charity decorated a Christmas tree in the mall in hopes of being voted "best tree" by shoppers. The trees were displayed in the center of the Mall, and the event was sponsored by Magic 106.7.

Thanks to your help and support, we are honored to announce that The Arc of the South Shore earned 2nd place in the voting!! We were proud to accept the $500 award on behalf of The Arc of the South Shore. We would also like to thank the individuals and staff of the Arc for taking the time to help create the decorations for the tree!!

Survey

Family Supports Survey ~ Help us Help You!
The Arc of the South Shore continually works to expand and improve its programming so that we can better serve the South Shore Community.  We are currently creating an Autism Resource Center to fill the void of services for people with autism in our community by:
  • Expanding our current Saturday Respite Program
  • Growing our clinical capacity to compliment our current Master's level clinician with BCBA Certification
  • Providing training for all staff in ABA practices
  • Incorporating Positive Behavioral Supports
  • Increasing the use of evidenced based practices
  • Utilizing The Arc's National  Autism Now Program ~ A National Autism Resource and Information Center

Please fill out the survey and let us know what services are important to you.  The survey will take less than 5 minutes and will be extremely helpful in allowing us to put together an exceptional program.
