Music Notes

Warner was an organist, composer and teacher. He taught at several colleges over his career including Kent State College and Eastman School of Music.

The postlude was composed by Adolphus Hailstork (b. 1941). Hailstork is Professor of Music and Composer in Residence at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. His compositions artfully blend ideas from both the African American and European musical traditions.

The postlude is an arrangement of the gospel tune Great Day. This Toccata is energetic and exciting. The distinctive opening notes of the tune are repeated throughout this composition.

Social Action Committee

At a recent meeting of the Social Action Committee, it was decided to help a Plymouth family with the cost of rent and groceries by donating funds through the Peace Abbey. One family member was detained by ICE some months ago and has recently been released, but the family is very much in need of financial assistance for costs such as rent, groceries, and legal fees. Any donations would be most appreciated. Checks can be made out to the Peace Abbey, earmarked “Plymouth family,” and will be received following worship on the first and second Sundays of the month. Thank you!

Since 2013, the Church of the Pilgrimage in Plymouth has been a steady and meaningful partner of the SRHF.

For Charlene Moore, that connection is both personal and longstanding. She first came to know SRHF through her sister, Jocelyn Bresnahan. Charlene and her family have been part of the Church of the Pilgrimage for more than 30 years. Over that time, she has served on various committees, taught Sunday School, and today is an active member of the Missions & Outreach Committee. Her husband also served the community for many years as a Deacon.

That connection soon grew into something more. It began with a small act of generosity. Charlene’s daughter, Augusta, traveled twice to Haiti, and in 2013 requested $300 from the Missions & Outreach Committee to purchase supplies. With the support of the church community, who also donated clothing, books, and dental supplies, that moment became the beginning of a lasting relationship with SRHF.

The Missions & Outreach Committee focuses on supporting local, national, and international efforts that improve lives. As Charlene shared, SRHF’s work aligns closely with that mission.

Over the years, the church’s support has helped advance SRHF’s work across healthcare, education, clean water, food security, and economic development for families in Saint Rock.

For Charlene, the partnership carries deep meaning. “I’ve seen firsthand the work, passion, and dedication of SRHF,” she shared. “Being part of the Missions & Outreach Committee allows me to share that work and those successes with others.”

She also reflected on the shared values that connect the two communities:

“The mission and programs of SRHF resonate with both our committee and our wider community. We value supporting organizations that are working to improve lives, whether through SRHF, Habitat for Humanity, Heifer International, or our local Monday Meals program.” “It has been a blessing to witness this work and to support it alongside our community.”

Even in the face of ongoing challenges in Haiti, that commitment remains strong. “Continued support is critical, it helps ensure stability and progress for the Saint Rock community.”

We are deeply grateful for this partnership, and for the care, consistency, and generosity that has sustained it for more than a decade. Mèsi anpil 💛

It's Ocean Month!

Consider how you are connected to the ocean. If you live close to the sea, plan a beach clean-up or hunt for nurdles (microplastics) in the sand. If you don’t live near the sea, clean up trash in your neighborhood, remembering that all watersheds are connected to the ocean. Learn about current ocean issues and ocean advocates working to heal our seas. Below are some educational/inspiring ocean resources:

Guided Meditation

Dear church members,

Rev. Linda Kreil and I will be offering a new ministry to church members - a guided meditation once a month over zoom. Guided meditation is a time of relaxation and insight, through a guided relaxation process and journey you can gain clarity about something you may be grappling with or create enough space from a concern that you gain inner peace.

If you are interested let us know and we’ll send a zoom link. It will be monthly at a set time, like the third Monday at 4pm for 1 hour. We will close each session with prayer.

We plan to start in September.

Important Announcement

School Street Parking and School Street building access

Beginning in early May 2026 and continuing for ten months or so, the first two metered parking spaces on School Street will have a large construction dumpster placed there. This dumpster will be used by the construction crew working on the renovation of the Mayflower Meeting House.

The location of this dumpster will impact handicap parking on School Street. Therefore, persons in our congregation who have mobility issues should plan to drop-off in front of the church to use the oceanside door with ramp.

We will keep you updated on the timeline of how long the dumpster will be located in these parking spaces on School Street.

Parking for Newcomers

Reminder that paid parking recommences on April 1

A reminder that on Sundays most of us park on School St., Main St. Extension (3 handicap), Summer St. (4 hours), and in the Market St. and Middle St. lots. Park Plymouth has informally agreed to not start ticketing vehicles near the church until noon on Sundays. One can get parking permits from Park Plymouth at 4 North Street; ph.508.747.5929;
