Welch Ledbetter Connection | Best Blues Album - 2018
Winner Best Traditional Blues Album 2018 - First time performers at the BEAN, Monster Mike Welch & Mike Ledbetter are tearing up the blues scene this year with 7 blues nominations. With over 25 years under his belt, Boston-based blues guitarist Monster Mike Welch is handily considered a seasoned veteran of the international blues scene. Chicago's own Mike Ledbetter has had nothing short of a rich and multi-dimensional musical journey thus far.
Bernard Allison
First time performer, the name Allison has a strong blues legacy; Bernard Allison plays the same smokin’ six string shooter that his late father Luther Allison assaulted the blues with. Heralded a blues funk master, talented guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, his newest album showcases plenty of soul-satisfying guitar work with genre bending tunes.
Tommy Castro & the Painkillers
B.B. King Entertainer of the Year - 2010
B.B. King Entertainer of the Year - 2010 First time performer, Tommy is one of the brightest contemporary blues musicians, combining passionate, fiery guitar playing with power vocals. Tommy Castro & The Painkillers’ road-hardened, seemingly telepathic musicianship bring an unmatched passion to Castro’s blue-eyed California soul and hard-rocking, good-time songs.
Danielle Nicole Band
Returns for her 5th Bean appearance on the tails of a hot new album and heavy touring schedule. Originally appeared as “Trampled Under Foot" in 2008, Nicole is reaching out more and trying different things. “I grew up playing the blues, and the blues is still a big part of what I do. It still sounds like me, but I'm stretching out a lot more than I have previously."
Gene Deer
Welcome back to the Bean! A true blues artist, born and raised in the Midwest, Gene Deer's style and music pulls on his old soul flavor of iconic blues artists from the Mississippi Delta, as well as classic rock legends. Gene's rock 'n roll spirit, and passion deliver high level energy from the stage in every performance.
