Dr. Noris Price, superintendent of the Baldwin County School District, has been named the 2022 Georgia Superintendent of the Year by the Georgia School Superintendents Association (GSSA). The award was presented during the combined Georgia School Superintendents Association (GSSA)/Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) Annual Conference on December 2, 2021, in Atlanta.
Each year, GSSA accepts nominations from local school boards, Regional Education Service Agencies (RESA), business organizations and communities, and education colleagues from all over the state. The nomination and selection process spans several months. According to GSSA, each finalist has been singled out for their leadership abilities and their excellent skill set in working with their boards, staff, parents and local communities. Having outstanding communication skills seems to be a theme amongst this distinguished group of experienced educational leaders. They all face challenges and do so with high integrity and dynamic and supportive leadership styles. They all strive to create a kinetic and innovative educational environment for students to be successful.
The Georgia Superintendent of the Year will compete for the National Superintendent of the Year, which will be announced in February 2022 at the AASA, the School Superintendents Association, National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

Baldwin County School District Achieves 2021 Exemplary School Board Status |
|
The Baldwin County School Board of Education was recognized as a 2021 Exemplary Board by the Georgia School Board Association(GSBA) at their annual conference in Atlanta. The recognition program is designed to showcase best practices in school governance and leadership. GSBA recognizes good school board governance to foster educational community cultures in order to advance student learning and achievement.
The Baldwin County Board of Education exceeded the criteria set forth by GSBA to earn the honor of a 2021 Exemplary Board. Congratulations to the Baldwin County School Board for receiving this honor. Board Members are: Dr. Gloria Wicker (District 1), Shannon Hill (District 2), Lyn Chandler, (District 3), John Jackson, Board Vice-Chair (District 4), and Wes Cummings, Board Chair (District 5).
“All of our board members work tirelessly to provide the right oversight and leadership to our public schools here in Baldwin County and this recognition is another example of how well that leadership is paying off for our students and our community,” said Superintendent Dr. Noris Price.

Baldwin County Board of Education Receives Leading Edge Award |

Congratulations to the Baldwin County Board of Education for receiving the 2021 Leading Edge Award by the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) at the GSBA/GSSA Annual Conference in Atlanta on December 3, 2021. The GSBA Leading Edge Award seeks to highlight school districts that are leading the way in ensuring students are competitive in an ever-changing global market. This unique achievement recognizes innovative design and implementation of projects and programs by local governance teams that are having a significant positive impact on student achievement and engagement. The award is open to any school district in Georgia.

Lakeview Academy and Midway Hills Academy's students performed in the 25th anniversary celebration of GCSU's Nutcracker ballet. These students had the honor of participating in this holiday dance extravaganza that features dancers from all ages from community dance programs. |

Baldwin High School 's AP Literature Students Are Creatively Analyzing Poetry |

Mrs. Veazey's and Mr. Reese's AP Literature students finished up their poetry analysis project by analyzing Taylor Swift's new album "Red (Taylor's Version)". As students worked in groups to analyze the song in how it developed the speaker's feelings, they used hexagonal thinking to bring together their ideas and show the connections between the poetic devices as well as to show their collaboration on the essay. |

Holds GCSU Acid/Base Science Day

Representatives from Georgia College and State University came to Oak Hill to perform acid and base experiments with our students. Dr. Lisse has been a valuable resource to work with, and she loves helping educate our students in a fun way. |

Georgia College Early College Students Celebrate National Chemistry Week |
|
The Chemistry Week celebration continues as GCEC 8th graders welcome a few special guests. Our Herty Hall neighbors Dr. Lissie and Ms. Nicole discussed and demonstrated Chemistry concepts such as the infamous elephant toothpaste and time-clock liquid-solid reaction. Students were also introduced to physics concepts like circuits, center of gravity, and echolocation. Students listened attentively and were eager to volunteer for the activities. The most exciting activity of the day was the angular momentum wheel. This allowed student to explore the energy conservation and the physics of why figure skaters fold their arms and spin faster while performing tricks. |

Midway Hills Academy Gets Into the
Spirit of the Season

Midway Hills Academy has been celebrating the spirit of the season every day this month with their 'Twelve and a half Days of December'. Students have had a Grinch Day, a Tree Topper Day, Candy Cane Day and Vacation on Our Minds Day, just to name a few, while continuing to show acts of kindness and include writing letters to community workers. |

Lakeview Primary Runs With Great Character |
|
Lakeview Primary School has adopted 5 Pillars of Character: Trustworthy Tigers, Responsible Rabbits, Fairness Frogs, Respectful Raccoons and Citizenship Cheetahs. Each week our classes discuss the character word of the week and one student from each class is celebrated on Friday as the person who has displayed the behavior most representative of that word. All classroom character winners are called to the front office while the rest of the school lines the hallways. Our Principal, Mrs. Clark, leads the parade of awarded students down the hallways of the school to the cheers and praises of their peers and faculty. Videos of the character parades are posted on Facebook each week to share our excitement about our outstanding character with the community.

Never worry about where your child's bus is ever again! Thanks to the new and innovative technology that the Baldwin County School District has invested in. As a result, parents of our students can now get real-time updates of their child's bus location through the MyStop app, which is available for download in the iTunes or Android marketplaces.
MyStop provides parents, and parents only, a live look at their child's bus while in transit using GPS technology. Parents can see the exact location of the bus as it's moving along its route and can even provide an estimated time of arrival.
