Alison Silgardo Leads Senior Inequality Panel at COSCO Conference

As a proud new member of COSCO (Council of Senior Citizens’ Organizations BC), CEO Alison Silgardo was honoured to be invited to moderate a panel discussion on Understanding Inequality for Seniors in BC at this year’s conference in October. It was an enlightening discussion full of shocking statistics.

Fresh Leadership, Deep Gratitude

We're thrilled to welcome Dovana Singh as our new Director of Programs! With over eight years of experience in senior services and a heart-led leadership style, Dovana brings a fresh vision and steady hands to our housing and support services. As we celebrate this exciting new chapter, we also extend heartfelt thanks to Kyoko Takahashi for a decade of extraordinary service.

Holiday Campaign Launches November 3

Too many seniors in our community are left out in the cold—sleeping in cars, couch-surfing, or facing eviction. Our Home for the Holidays Campaign is on a mission to raise $100,000 to provide safe, stable housing and support services for those who need it most. With your help, we can ensure that vulnerable seniors have more than just a roof over their heads—they’ll have connection, dignity, and a place to call home.

Providing a vital service: SSSBC volunteer Carlo Viola

It’s been said that there are two certainties in life: death and taxes. Fortunately, SSSBC volunteers are here to help with taxes at least! And, thanks to long-time volunteer Carlo Viola, we’re able to provide this free service to low-income seniors with a dose of humour thrown in for good measure.

Living with Dignity Thanks to our Temporary Housing Program

Just over a year ago, 66-year-old Michele was on the verge of homelessness. With few affordable options and fear mounting, she didn’t know where to turn—until she discovered SSSBC’s Temporary Housing Program. Today, she’s thriving in a permanent home, surrounded by community and stability. Learn how this one-of-a-kind program is transforming the lives of vulnerable seniors across B.C.—one home at a time.

Give a Little Each Month. Change a Life All Year.

Becoming a monthly donor is one of the easiest—and most impactful—ways to support seniors in crisis. By spreading your donation over the year, you help provide stable funding for vital services like housing navigation, meals, social programs, and emergency shelter.
