Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.
The Baldwin County School District got a strong dose of mental health and wellness during its June Leadership Retreat with special guest Sucheta Kamath, the CEO and founder of ExQ. She also focused on Executive Function, which is a set of skills essential to appropriately adjust one’s thoughts, emotions and actions in accordance with changing environments and challenging times to achieve personal goals!
Ms. Kamath is a much sought-after speaker for Executive Function training, which is the part of the brain that governs skills essential to adjusting to abrupt shifts to environmental circumstances. The Summer Adventure Program
Ends with a Bang!
The Summer Adventure Program ended on the last day of June, beginning with a host of performances from the dance teams, band camps, and musical theatre to showcase what they've been working on over the summer. After an amazing show, the real fun began with games, STEAM workshops, EMT helicopter, ambulance, and firetruck demonstrations, and so much more. Parents were given a school tour which included face painting, therapy dogs, a chemistry magic show, and of course, food!
Thank you so much to all of our teachers, parents, incredible partners, and vendors who helped make the day such a wild and fun success. Thank you, Communities In Schools, the YES Program, Allied Arts, Georgia College, and so many more. We can't wait to see you next year.

How the YES Program Summer Adventure Camp Got to Wild Adventures
(But Almost Didn't)
Only days before the YES Program's big Summer Camp field trip to Wild Adventures, Oak Hill Middle School YES Administrator Alicia Jenkins got an email that she calls "devastating".
"There was an issue with Wild Adventures accepting a purchase order for payment," Jenkins said, "so we were either going to have to cancel the trip or we were going to have to pay for all the tickets up front, which was about $5,000. And we found out about this literally four days before the trip, but it was over the weekend so actually only one business day before the trip."
With nowhere else to turn and only one day to do it, the race to fund 140 students' trip to Wild Adventures was on. Read the full story at the link below.

BCSD to Purchase School Supplies for Students
As stores begin to prepare for the back-to-school season, the Baldwin County School District will assist families with school essentials by purchasing basic school supplies for all students for the 2022-2023 school year. At the May Baldwin County Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Noris Price recommended using funds from the federal CARES Act to purchase school supplies for all students to provide some financial relief for parents in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Baldwin County Board of Education unanimously approved the recommendation. This is the second year that all students will receive FREE school supplies for the beginning of the school year.

Baldwin Online Academy
Registration Is Open
The Baldwin County School District will continue to offer students the option of remote learning by enrolling in the Baldwin Online Academy for the 2022-2023 school year. This option is also available to home-schooled students. Baldwin Online Academy is available to students in grades K-12 who want to have the flexibility of learning from home at their own pace.
Parents may use this LINK to enroll their children in the Baldwin Online Academy (BOA) for the 2022-2023 school year. Students who are already in BOA do not need to complete this form. If you have more than one child, please complete a form for each child. Homeschooled students will need to complete the new student registration process. You will be notified if your child is selected for the Baldwin Online Academy.
Students need to have good grades and attendance to be considered for the online academy (passing 3 out of 4 academic subjects). If there is a medical reason for wanting to enroll online, the parent needs to state this in the reason for enrolling. For any questions, please contact Mr. Antonio Ingram, Director of the BSA/BOA at 478-233-9010 or send an email to antonio.ingram@baldwin.k12.ga.us
