Two of our very own Baldwin High School students have made history in the world of high school wrestling. Catherine Mullis, a senior at Baldwin High School, brought home the Georgia High School Association's State Championship title. Not only is she the first Girls State Champion in Baldwin High School history, but she is also our first wrestling champion of the 21st century. Chavis Watson, a junior at Baldwin High School, finished in 3rd place in the state competition, making him the highest Baldwin High School male placer in the last 15 years. These history-making accomplishments are truly amazing and an outstanding feat. A special thanks go out to Coach Lindsay and Coach Canty for all their hard work and dedication to the wrestling team. Baldwin County School District Celebrated Public Schools Week
The Baldwin County School District joined thousands of educators, parents, and community members across the nation in the celebration of Public Schools Week 2021 (February 22-26). During this observance, administrators, teachers, specialists, support staff, parents, and school board members were encouraged to host events for their communities and reach out to lawmakers, businesses, and other community members to discuss the importance of public education. Public Schools Week brings everyone together to show the strength and potential of our nation’s public schools and our students’ futures. Our public schools look different this year. But our commitment is the same: We will keep our students safe, learning, and growing, one student at a time.
Public schools educate nine of every 10 students. Public Education is the great equalizer for children; it has lifted generations of people out of poverty and from the middle to higher income, helping to set young adults on the path to a fulfilling life.

Baldwin County School Nutrition Department Serves One Million Meals
The Baldwin County School Nutrition Department reached a very impressive milestone in February. The staff has prepared and served over one million meals since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the hardships brought on by the pandemic, the Baldwin County School Nutrition Department has been committed to its mission to provide healthy, nutritious meals to children and their families in the community.
The school nutrition department has provided numerous opportunities for area children to receive free meals throughout the pandemic. According to BCSD School Nutrition Director Susan Nelson, although many students have been home doing virtual learning, Baldwin schools have still been serving meals to those students as well as those in school. Also, the USDA has allowed schools to offer meals 7 days a week, and Baldwin County has taken full advantage of that offer.
Ms. Nelson stresses that it was highly important for the school nutrition department to provide assistance, not just to Baldwin students but for the entire community, for the pandemic is affecting everyone. She explains that we have so many in our community that has lost their jobs or have experienced a reduction in their work hours. The BCSD School Nutrition Department will continue in its efforts to provide nutritious, healthy meals to all the children of Baldwin County.
