BHS Band of the Braves Earn Recognitions
The Baldwin High School Concert Band attended their state evaluation, or Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE), at Houston County High School on Thursday, March 17th. After not being able to attend in 2021 due to COVID-19, the band was very excited to return to this state-wide event. Their hard work paid off as the program received 3 Superior ratings for their on-stage performance and 1 Superior rating in the sight-reading room, making it an overall sweep of all Superior ratings. A Superior rating is classified as an outstanding performance worthy of distinction as it is recognized as being among the very best. We would also like to congratulate the following students for making the Region Honor Band. These students will represent the Baldwin High School band program at Valdosta State University on April 7-9.
9/10 grade band: Jacob Bennett (Flute), Rachel Brooks Flute), and Kody Reese ( Percussion)
11/12 grade band: JaQuan Moore (Clarinet), Julius Moore (Clarinet), JaQuan Moore (Bass Clarinet). Ashton Davis (Tenor Saxophone), Yalonda Wright (Trombone), and Elliot Callender (Tuba)

Early Learning Center (ELC) Recognizes Male Involvement Month
The Early Learning Center held several activities during the month of March to recognize Male Involvement Month. On Friday, March 11th, students and their dads, granddads, uncles, brothers, or any other positive male figure in their life, had a Daddy and Me Scavenger Hunt. This was a fun activity to encourage these positive male role models and students to spend quality time together. On Saturday, March 19th, dads were able to drive through the car rider line and receive a free book and a treat to encourage reading with their students. Finally, from March 22 to April 1, dads had the opportunity to come and play with their students during recess.

Oak Hill Middle Students Use Creativity in Learning About the Cherry Blossom Festival
While learning about the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC, and the local Macon Cherry Blossom Festival, Ms. Cox’s class got creative. Students made cherry tree paintings using empty soda bottles and q-tips. They later made cherry blossom cookies and enjoyed icing and eating them for a snack. These activities provided excellent opportunities for students to engage in expressive communication and relevant life skills.

Midway Hills Academy Holds C.H.A.M.P.S. Graduation for 5th Graders
Midway Hills Academy hosted the annual C.H.A.M.P.S. graduation ceremony on Tuesday, March 22nd. Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety (C.H.A.M.P.S.) was founded in 2003 by the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association to address these urgent challenges. The program is currently for fifth graders, but the goal is to eventually extend this program into the middle and high schools. C.H.A.M.P.S. lesson plans are taught by certified deputy sheriffs who have successfully completed C.H.A.M.P.S. instructor training.
Congratulations, MHA fifth graders!
Thank you, Midway Hills Academy, SRO Deputy Jones, for a job well done! Special thanks to guest speaker Ms. Lakisha Harris, Baldwin County School alumna and former C.H.A.M.P.S. graduate!

Never worry about where your child's bus is ever again! Thanks to the new and innovative technology that the Baldwin County School District has invested in. As a result, parents of our students can now get real-time updates of their child's bus location through the MyStop app, which is available for download in the iTunes or Android marketplaces.
MyStop provides parents, and parents only, a live look at their child's bus while in transit using GPS technology. Parents can see the exact location of the bus as it's moving along its route and can even provide an estimated time of arrival.
