Dear Blossom Hill Families:
As this novel year draws to a close, I would like to take the opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the many dedicated members of our learning community that make our school such a special place to learn and blossom.
Thank you to our outstanding Home & School Club! This year, our H&SC Board members: Jen Shapiro, Ellen Feichtmeir, Yamini Ghadge, Chitra Ramaswamy, Susan Carter Anderson, and Melissa Crow leave us with a legacy and responsibility to fulfill their mission of promoting positive school and community relationships that enhance the learning of all students that attend Blossom Hill. These hard working, dedicated, and extremely capable members gave generously of their time and talents whenever and wherever they were needed ensuring our students had the tools, supplies, and enrichment activities needed to thrive.
There are not adequate words to express my gratitude to our H&SC President, Jen Shapiro, for providing exemplary leadership over the last two years as we experienced a world-wide pandemic. This year alone, Jen decorated gates and joyously welcomed students back to class as our mascot Bumble on 6 first days of school. Her heartfelt commitment to make each first day feel special for every child was felt by all in attendance. Throughout her tenure, Jen has been ever present with her student-centered focus and mindful intention to bee kinder than necessary, share creative ideas, encourage compassion, strategically problem solve, strengthen community, and have fun. Our community is incredibly fortunate that Jen will continue on the H & SC Board next year as parliamentarian, as well as in her new role as a co-chair of the One Community Campaign.
Thank you to our School Site Council representatives: Ling Law, Malea Mordant, Meena Nathan, Kerry Perkins, Francine Shore, Julie Sheehan, Lucia Arredondo, Jenelle Bertucelli, and Fran Mastroianni. Throughout the year, this dedicated and well-informed group worked to develop and implement the Single Plan for Student Achievement, thus guiding our school-wide quest for continuous improvement. Each participant consistently brought valuable perspective and expertise to their governance role and made significant contributions to our school community.
Great gratitude also goes to our Los Gatos Educational Foundation Captain Eric Dunstan who was ever present to help encourage funding for programs and personnel at our school and across the district.
A big, big thank you goes to our Committee Chairs for their hard work and dedication throughout the year: Jean Choi, Jeanne Ivern, Brenda Chiu, Ting Engelman, Francine Shore, Caroline Zamansky, Michelle Avlas, Amy Gregor, Christy Kersten, Szilvia Decoin, Jen Saban, Melissa Crow, Nicole Duke, Malea Mordaunt, Shadi Allen, Jennifer Shapiro, Bonnie Pang, Kerry Newlin, Meena Shams, Ling Law, Rachel Pandipati, Amanda Caruso, Irene Guilbaud-Haaima, Gigi Harrell, Cat Leitch, Missy Bottoms, Kristin Hutchinson, and Kathleen Willey.
Thanks also go out to our many dedicated Project Cornerstone volunteers, Room Parents, and the Staff Appreciation Committee for filling buckets, strengthening relationships and spreading goodwill. YOU are a key component of our school’s success. The hours donated each year throughout the school are priceless.
Thank you to each of our families for supporting your children to be “ready to learn” each day be it from either the Roomer or Zoomer platform. It is through the spirit of partnership that we are able to provide our students a positive and engaging educational experience.
Thank you to our wonderful support staff. You consistently demonstrated a high degree of dedication and handled the incredible demands (and interruptions) with kindness, skill, and efficiency. A special thank you goes to Cindy Adams and Julie Sheehan for spreading light and love with daily and weekly song and videos. We are indeed fortunate to have such caring, talented individuals work with our children each day.
Thank you to our multi-talented faculty. You worked tirelessly to provide a positive learning climate full of inspiring, thought-provoking, standards-based instruction while learning to utilize new technology tool kits and implementing both the Zoomer and Roomer teaching platforms. You are among the best teachers in the profession!
A GIGANTIC THANKS goes out to our students for the joy, zest, and enthusiasm you bring to school each day. It is a gift to work with you and share in your life!
We wish our beloved fifth graders, as well as those families that are leaving us, the fondest of farewells. You will be missed.
Since this is the last Beehive for the school year, I am sending along my best wishes to all for a safe and fun summer filled with lots of reading.
With love,
Lisa Reynolds

Dear Blossom Hill Friends,
As I reflect back on the past two years that I have had the honor to serve as your Home & School Club President, many wonderful memories come to mind. I am forever grateful to be part of a community who rose to the challenges we faced and finished this school year strong. Thank you to LGUSD Board of Trustees and the LGUSD administration, led by Paul Johnson, for guiding us through these unprecedented times. Thank you to the Blossom Hill administration, teachers and support staff, led by Lisa Reynolds, for providing a learning environment where our children felt safe and supported. It has been a great honor to work so closely with the amazing staff at Blossom Hill, especially Julie Sheehan and Cindy Adams who provided wisdom and joy at every turn. Thank you to my fellow board members, Melissa Crow, Ellen Feichtmeir, Susan Carter Anderson, Chitra Ramaswamy, and Yamini Ghadge for their unwavering service to Blossom Hill and the Home & School Club. Thank you to all of the committee chairs: Jean Choi, Jeanne Ivern, Brenda Chiu, Ting Engelman, Francine Shore, Caroline Zamansky, Michelle Avlas, Amy Gregor, Christy Kersten, Szilvia Decoin, Jen Saban, Melissa Crow, Nicole Duke, Malea Mordaunt, Shadi Allen, Bonnie Pang, Kerry Newlin, Meena Shams, Ling Law, Rachel Pandipati, Amanda Caruso, Irene Guilbaud-Haaima, Gigi Harrell, Cat Leitch, Missy Bottoms, Kristin Hutchinson, Kathleen Willey, and Eric Dunstan for their hard work and flexibility in providing our students the Blossom Hill programs and traditions that we cherish. I am very proud of what the Home & School Club was able to accomplish this year. Thank you to all my fellow parents who advocated for our children, supported the Home & School Club by participating in our activities, volunteered your time and contributed to the One Community LG campaign. Thank you to our children who are the reason we do everything we do. Their smiling faces and continual adaptation to the many changes they experienced was amazing.
As I move into the board position of parliamentarian, I am confident that the Blossom Hill Home & School Club will continue to shine under the leadership of your new president, Melissa Crow. Thank you to Melissa and her fellow board members Kristin Hutchinson, Ellen Feichtmeir, Nika Esfahani, Widya Junus, and Jean Choi for volunteering to serve our community for the 2021-2022 school year.

Los Gatos Union School District Parcel Tax
That Funds 23 Teachers Is Set To Expire
There are many ways California schools receive funding but only two are under local control: donations and parcel taxes.
For over 30 years, Los Gatos has renewed Measure B, our district’s local parcel tax. While the “purchasing power” has declined over time (due to inflation), the measure still funds 23 teachers.
Measure B is set to expire next year.
The LGUSD Board of Trustees is investigating renewing and increasing Measure B on the November 2021 ballot. To learn more about this process, visit www.lgusd.org/renewalmeasure.
