2020-2021
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Blossom Hill Families,

Reopening school planning, COVID-19 testing, and the upcoming Be Seen & Heard presentations are keeping Team LGUSD busy!

This Thursday, January 21st at 4:00 P.M., there is a special LGUSD Board Meeting where the most updated local and state guidelines will be reviewed. Please stay tuned for more information regarding reopening dates for students who are projected to be “Roomers”.

As yesterday was the first day of student COVID testing on campus, we are grateful for our partnership with the Santa Clara County Office of Education and Curative Testing to make this service available on a bi-weekly basis for students who are projected to return to campus.

On Friday, January 8, a letter was emailed home to all families regarding the upcoming Be Seen & Heard Year 3 presentations. As a friendly reminder, if you prefer that your child opt-out of this prevention education session, please complete the opt-out segment that was attached to the bottom of the letter and return to me by this Friday, January 22. Thank you.

In education together,
Lisa Reynolds
Principal, Blossom Hill School

Every child learns differently. With virtual learning and continued plans for hybrid Roomers and Zoomers in LGUSD, parents have become teachers and educational partners in unexpected ways that continue to require creativity and care.  As we continue this journey together, we hear from parents that they often feel they lack the training and experience to recognize and adapt to their child’s learning style. Join us for this session to support your child for success in 2021!

Damon Korb, M.D., a board-certified behavioral and developmental pediatrician, examines the neurodevelopmental brain functions that determine how a child learns, behaves and socializes. As the clinic director for the Center for Developing Minds, he guides a team of child development experts that care for children and young adults who are struggling. With the recent publication of his award-winning book, Raising an Organized Child, Dr. Korb aims to provide parents with an assortment of tools to help their children develop the skills they need to thrive.

Dr. Korb has more than 25 years of pediatric practice experience, including 20 years focusing on child behavior and development. He is the current Board Chairperson for Parents Helping Parents, a past President for the Society of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, and a member of the Adjunct Clinical Faculty at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Korb is a frequent speaker, having lectured to parents and professionals on a wide range of neurodevelopmental topics, and has provided advice on NPR, the Today Show, and other morning news programs, including stations in the LA, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. areas. He has contributed to articles featured in Parents Magazine, The Washington Post, The New York Times, OprahMag.com and Good Housekeeping.
Blossom Hill Traffic Calming
The Town of Los Gatos hired Hexagon Transportation Consultants to provide options for changes along the Blossom Hill traffic corridor in front of the school. The goal of the project is to make the roadway safer for all users. The plan can be viewed on the Town's website by clicking on the link below:
The Town will be holding a virtual community meeting on January 28 at 6pm to review the plan and to gather feedback from community stakeholders. The meeting will be held via Zoom. After a short presentation, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and voice concerns either verbally or via the meeting's chat function. The Zoom link is available below.
"Bee" Safe with Blossom Hill Masks!

All students received a Blossom Hill mask at their last materials pick up courtesy of the Home & School Club. Please be sure to write your child's name and classroom number on the label inside the mask, as all masks do look alike. Let's all "bee" safe and "bee" healthy.
Hybrid Learning Support Aides/Health Screeners Needed!
We are working towards opening for in-person instruction. In order to support our schools and staff members, we are hiring additional staff to act as in-class aides to facilitate the “Rooming and Zooming” model, and to provide on-campus support. While we know many would be happy to volunteer their support, to ensure adequate training and provide consistency, we will be hiring the assistants. These positions will begin when in-person instruction classes begin. The details and how to apply are listed in the job posting.
No Cost Giving Updates

Thank you to everyone for their support for our Box Tops for Education program. We received a check for $49.60. Please continue to scan your receipts to earn credit for your box tops. Every little bit helps! To see how to scan your receipts, go to Box Tops for Education.

Thank you also to the families who have joined with Farm Fresh to You to support the Blossom Hill Home & School Club. We received a check for $99.48 from their give back program. Thank you to Farm Fresh to You for supporting us with this wonderful program, as well as their delicious produce.
