Dear Parent or Guardian:

As you have noticed, each week our counseling team is using GoogleForms to check in with students.  We monitor all of the responses in order to consider ongoing adjustments and support students’ needs.

This week, we will be augmenting our own check in process using the Panorama platform.  You may remember the platform from the strategic planning survey completed last year.

Our 3rd – 8th grade students will take the survey in the coming days, again mid-year, and end of the year to help us dive a bit deeper into data and provide interventions for students.  Please note this survey is not for grade K-2 and they will continue to have the weekly check in from our team without any changes.  We are putting the final touches on the sign in process and anticipate that the students will have access to the survey beginning September 2.  We will use our regular SEL days for most grade levels in order to complete the survey window by September 14.

You have full access to the survey as it will be available to your student to complete at home.  Students have the option to take this survey, just like the weekly check in tool.  We hope that you will encourage and support your child in the survey experience.

These results will be very valuable to our school and our district in measuring the work we do to support programs and strategies that help students feel supported, connected, and respected.

The survey will include:

Student Supports/Environment and Learning at Home
Back to School Schoolwork and Relationships/Connection to School
Student Wellness Perseverance and Empathy

Our middle school survey will also include six questions about student perspective about the climate in the classroom about race to support the District Action Plans as adopted by the Board in August.

Sincerely,
Misty Hartung

Show your Blossom Hill Pride!
At your next materials pick up, yard signs (courtesy of the Home & School Club) will be available for all families to show their Blossom Hill Pride. They will be distributed to the youngest child in your family. We would love to see the neighborhood decked out with Blossom Hill Pride! Don't forget to take pictures of your children's smiling faces, in their finest Spirit Wear, next to your yard sign and submit them to the yearbook. We would love to show our teachers our Blossom Hill Pride by displaying these pictures in the office at school. If you would like to share your picture, please email your pictures to [email protected].

A Message from Safe Routes to School:
Book of the Month
As part of their Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), all students have been read I am Human: A Book of Empathy. It is a wonderful book that encourages us to make good choices by acting with compassion and having empathy for others and ourselves. It is a very timely book as we are all striving to be our best selves. In addition, empathy is the Student Success Profile trait that LGUSD is focusing on this school year.
