From The Principal's Desk
Dear Blossom Hill Families:

It has been a magical day as musician, songwriter, and longtime Blossom Hill friend, Mr. Steve Seskin, visited our school to help us kick-off the new year with kindness and joy.  Steve shared stories and sang about friendship, empathy, being curious, and pushing through challenges.

He also wrote a special song for our learning community titled, Be the Source of Someone’s Joy, that highlights feelings and the power of sharing our light with others.  We are excited to embody the message and spirit of the song and to share it with you.

Ever vigilant in implementing safety protocols, we were able to provide four separate outside assemblies where students social distanced and wore masks.  Making this celebration and special learning opportunity feasible was our Home & School Club.  I speak for students and staff, alike, when I express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for your thoughtful donations and support to make such a positive community building event possible.

In education together,

“It takes a hive to thrive.” Those simple words inspire and motivate our collective efforts at Blossom Hill. At Back-to-School Night last month, I spoke about three ways you can help our hive thrive. You can volunteer. You can donate. You can vote.
First, our hive thrives when you volunteer. Thank you to everyone who has responded to the call to volunteer. You are room parents, pottery helpers, library helpers, committee chairs, event helpers and more. Because of you, we are able to restore many beloved activities and events on campus this year. If you were not able to submit your volunteer survey, send me an email at [email protected] and I will help you find an opportunity that is a good fit for your interests and schedule.
Second, our hive thrives when you donate to One Community. Please donate to One Community at www.onecommunitylg.org. Put a reminder on your calendar to donate this weekend. Your contribution pays for student and teacher supplies, classroom technology, instruments, staff salaries, music and art programs, and other initiatives related to the district’s strategic plan. Staff impacted by the One Community campaign include music and art teachers, librarians, and physical education teachers. Donations should be made by September 30. Our goal is 100% participation.
Third, our hive thrives when you vote. I encourage you to become an informed citizen and prepare to vote on Measure B, a renewal of our local measure that funds 23 core academic teachers in our district. This measure is the largest source of locally controlled funding for our school district. It impacts our class sizes and the depth and breadth of our staff. Measure B is included on the November 2 ballot, not the current ballot available for the gubernatorial recall. Please look for more information at www.lgusd.org/renewalmeasure.
Again, thank you for all you do. Our hive thrives because of you.

Blossom Hill Home & School Club President

Los Gatos Union School District Parcel Tax
Measure B on November 2nd Ballot
Quality schools are at the heart of our town. For over 30 years Los Gatos and Monte Sereno students have relied on locally controlled funding. But the funding level has not increased in 20 years...and the current measure is about to expire. If not renewed, our schools will lose $2.7 million in funding each year requiring deep cuts, including layoffs of teaching staff.

Measure B will renew school funding at $335 per parcel, providing approximately $3.2 million in annual funding for local elementary and middle schools. Measure B would expire in 8 years. To learn more about Measure B and its impact, visit www.lgusd.org/renewalmeasure.
Your Help Needed for Important Funding Initiative for Free/Reduced Lunch Meal Program
Los Gatos Union School District receives funding based on students that qualify for Free/Reduced meal program applications. Since the 2021-2022 school year meal program is serving meals at no cost to Los Gatos Union School District families, it is important that all families, regardless of income, complete the attached Alternative Household Income application form before September 25, 2021.

Based on Free/Reduced eligibility, this funding supports:
● Title II funds – Professional Development for all staff.
● Title III funds – Immigration and English Learner students.
● Title IV funds – Middle School support for English Learners.
● Supplemental Funds – Intervention, Teacher Aides, Counseling Services,
Psychologist Services, Community Liaisons, Software Licenses for students,
Teacher Instructional Support, and Instructional materials.
Online Alternative Household Income applications can be found at:
Thank you for your participation in this important funding initiative!
