International Day of Women in Multilateralism

25 January is the International Day of Women in Multilateralism, which recognizes the essential role played by women in the promotion of human rights, peace and sustainable development within the multilateral system.

An example of what inclusive multilateralism can deliver is the Belém Gender Action Plan (GAP), agreed at COP 30. It marks a new chapter for equality, ambition and inclusion in climate policy and action, placing gender equality at the heart of climate action, from safer participation to stronger data, finance and technology.

The Belém GAP charts a clear path to strengthen women’s representation and leadership in climate negotiations — and everyone has a role to play.
