Exciting Generations Update: The Journey Begins!
After much anticipation, Generations construction will begin on Monday, May 4. Our Sanctuary will be the first project to undertake, giving some much-needed attention to our ceilings, carpet, walls, pews, lighting, bathrooms, and more. At last, our sanctuary will be restored for the next generation of Jesus followers and all who presently call Snyder Memorial Baptist their home.
Sunday afternoon at 4:30pm will be the last time we will worship together in our sanctuary before the renovations begin. I am uniquely excited about this Spring Concert, which, in the year of our country’s 250th birthday, has a patriotic theme yet focuses above all on the glory of our God. Sunday night will be one of those services where you will be glad you asked your friends to join you here.
As we move into the construction phase of our Generations initiative, it will be very important for us to remain:
Faithful: God’s faith to us, and our collective faithfulness, has brought us to this moment in our church’s history, and it will be faithfulness that will see us through to the completion of this project. Most importantly, please continue to be faithful in your personal relationship with God, in prayer, and in your Bible intake. Despite having to relocate our worship service throughout the project, our faithfulness in inviting our friends, being present in worship, groups, and serve teams will be key to moving us forward during construction. Thank you to all those who are sacrificially giving of your finances and time to help bring about this renovation. The example you set reminds us of God’s faithfulness.
Flexible: The next year will require flexibility. While we are following a well-developed schedule and procedure, there will likely be moments when we will need to readjust to keep moving forward. In these moments, we can exhibit the grace we have received from God by being gracious in our flexibility.
Friendly: We will do our best to make things clear, like parking and navigating the church campus. Nevertheless, change can be fatiguing for some people. Remember that each Sunday is someone’s first Sunday; the welcome and care they receive may well determine if it is also their last. Be mindful of your expression and of the new people in the room. Remember, as we sing, “What a Friend we have in Jesus,” that others’ friendship with Jesus may well begin with your friendliness toward them.
Faithful, Flexible, and Friendly for the Glory of God, Lifting High the Name of Jesus and the future of Fayetteville.
Looking forward,
Blake
