Ash Wednesday Service

March 5 | 12pm | Chapel

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season, a 40-day period of prayer, reflection, and — for some — fasting that provides a time of spiritual preparation for Easter. It’s a solemn reminder of our connection to Jesus’ journey to the cross and our need for forgiveness.

To help set this season apart, we invite you to a special Ash Wednesday service on Wednesday, March 5, from 12 – 12:30pm in the Chapel.

You're invited to bring your friends and family to the Fellowship Hall for dinner and conversation on Wednesday from 4:50 - 6pm. Tomorrow, we'll be serving:

  • Regular Meal: Spaghetti w/ Meat Sauce, Green Beans, Caesar Salad, Garlic Bread
  • Chef Salad (Pre-Made)
  • Kid Meal: Chicken Nuggets, Fries, Fresh fruit, Sweet Treat

Cost: $8 Regular meal, $8 Chef Salad, $6 Kids' meal, $30 family max.

Meet John Bigger, Deacon Moderator 2025

John has been a part of Snyder since 2009 and became a member in 2010. Since joining, he has held various roles, including RA leader and deacon. He has served on several committees such as Finance, Baptism, Personnel, Committee on Committees, and the Pastor Search Committee. Professionally, he has worked at Cape Fear Valley as the Corporate Director of Behavioral Health Services for nearly a decade. John is married to Jennifer, and together they have three wonderful daughters: Melissa, Meredith, and Caroline. As Deacon Moderator, John is eager to continue the excellent work of past moderators, serving as a leader and support to Pastor Blake, fellow Deacons, and the congregation in any way he can. Interestingly, in early 1990, during the final stages of the Cold War, John had the unique experience of "chopping" on the Berlin Wall.
