God’s Faithfulness in the Waiting: Welcoming Tim Jackson, Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Care
Time has a way of reminding us where God has been at work. For Snyder, that includes the three-year season since Bruce Hermann’s position as Associate Pastor became vacant—a season marked by prayer, perseverance, and trust in God’s timing.
Behind the scenes, a dedicated Associate Pastor Search Committee faithfully carried this responsibility. We want to recognize and thank those who served with wisdom and commitment: Jane Holt (Chair), Myers Coggin, Jay Griffith, Jennifer Guthrie, Jeremy Martin, Lisa Orr, and Blake Benge (Ex-Officio). Each member brought unique gifts, and together they helped guide us to this moment. We are deeply grateful for their service.
Over the past three years, the search has been thorough and prayerful. Early efforts included months of work by Bob Ervin’s search committee, followed in fall 2024 by a nationwide search led by Bill Wilson from the Center for Healthy Churches. Though no candidate emerged at that time, God was still at work preparing hearts, aligning paths, and teaching us to wait on Him.
Unbeknownst to us, God was also working in the hearts of Tim and Tina Jackson, opening them to a new season of ministry and a long-term commitment in a local church. During this same period, our committee conducted countless calls, Zoom interviews, and on-site visits—some of which were unexpectedly canceled. Again and again, the message was clear: wait on the Lord. And so we did.
That waiting led us to Tim Jackson, an ordained Baptist minister whose life and ministry reflect God’s redemptive power. Tim’s early years were marked by hardship and loss. The Army became a turning point, eventually leading him to faith, education, and a lifelong call to ministry. He holds degrees in Ministry Leadership, Master of Church Planting and Evangelism, and a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Leadership.
Tim has been married to Tina for 33 years. They have five grown children, and Tina is a practicing psychiatrist. Tim has served in ministry since 2002 in a variety of roles, including Youth for Christ, church planting, associate and lead pastor positions, and student and family ministry.
As our committee spent time with Tim, a clear picture emerged. He is relational, energetic, gospel-centered, and closely aligned with Snyder’s heart for care, discipleship, and relational ministry. Through interviews, on-site visits, and prayerful discernment, and with unanimous support from the Personnel Committee and Deacon Body, God’s direction became clear. Tim Jackson affirmed God’s call to serve at Snyder, joining our mission to help people discover God, develop faith, and display Christ-like love.
Tim will be joining us in early March, and we are excited to see how God will continue to unfold His plan in this place. We trusted Him in the waiting, and we trust Him as we move forward—grateful, confident, and expectant.
