The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held at the university’s Arts and Architecture Building, marked the culmination of a project led by David Matthews, a professor in the UT School of Interior Architecture known for his annual trips to Japan to teach design. The mobile tea house promises to be a unique and immersive experience for this year’s festival attendees.
The project, which students completed over 14 weeks during their Interior Architecture 475 fall semester class, was initiated three years ago and made possible by a $75,000 grant written by Milagros Zingoni Phielipp from the Angelo Donghia Foundation.
