Bethany’s Head of School Embarks on Sabbatical: A Season of Renewal and Growth

As glimmers of spring begin, Head of School, Tim Lehman, embarks on a sabbatical until early April. This opportunity marks a significant moment in Tim’s nine-year tenure, allowing him to engage in personal and professional growth.

A key highlight of Tim’s sabbatical is the chance to spend time with his aging family members and immerse himself in a cherished family tradition: maple syrup production. Working alongside his father in their upstate New York family sugarbush, he will deepen his understanding of the craft and lore of sugaring. This experience is not only a personal passion but also an opportunity to gain fresh insights that he looks forward to sharing with the Bethany community upon his return.

Beyond the maple groves, Tim will also dedicate time to exploring board structure and governance. This project aims to strengthen Bethany’s leadership framework, reinforcing the school’s long-term vision and sustainability. His work in this area will ensure that Bethany continues to benefit from strong, forward-thinking governance for years to come.

Though he will be with family in New York, Tim will remain actively engaged with the school’s leadership. Weekly check-ins with the administrative team and board will ensure a smooth and seamless transition. Bethany's leadership team will oversee daily operations, keeping the school running efficiently during his absence.

As spring break approaches, Tim will be refreshed and eager to share his experiences with the Bethany community.
