Head mechanic John Waddell has recently joined The Bike Boutique family, bringing with him nearly 40 years of experience working in bike shops all around the greater Wilmington area. Come by with any problems your cyclocross rig or mountain bike may be complaining of, or get a tune-up on your well-loved triathlon or road bike after a fabulous racing season. Better yet, make sure your winter beater bike is set to endure many more miles in the upcoming cold conditions!

John used to weld his own custom bike frames, so no bike issue is too big or too small for this mechanic! (If you want to show your appreciation for his mad skills, rumor has it that he's got a soft spot for chocolate chip cookies...)

It's that special time of year again...time for egg nog, pumpkin pie, and holiday shopping! Come into the shop to find that special something for the athlete in your life. We've prepared special gift baskets for your favorite triathlete, mountain biker, and bike commuter. By purchasing the Mountain Biker Survival Kit, Commuter Safety Kit, or Triathlon Special Needs Basket, you save over 20% off the list price of the items bought separately.

Brand new items in the store that are sure to top wish lists this year include the GoPro wearable mini video camera and the new GPS-enabled Ironman watch by Timex. We've got 18 new titles on our shelf of inspirational books, along with a huge selection of DVDs to watch whilst on the trainer. There's also plenty of new winter clothing and gear to get you through the chilly months along with huge markdowns on summer racing apparel to keep you motivated for that next race. Current clearance sales include 40% off selected race kits and 50% off children's cycling gloves. Of course, our huge one-day sale will be during our big Kona party on December 18th, so you won't want to miss that!

The Ironman World Championships in Hawaii showcased the best in the world, with teamTBB pros right in the mix. Kona highlights for the team include a valiant 2nd place by dark horse Caroline Steffen (SUI) and Amy Marsh's (USA) fight to hold onto 11th place after a courageous push into 5th coming off the bike. While some equate Kona with the end of the triathlon season, teamTBB continued to race hard past October. November saw James Cunnama (RSA) take his first WTC Ironman win in Panama City, FL, with Erika Csomor (HUN) taking 2nd in the IMFL pro women's race. Meanwhile, the newest teamTBB recruit and complete underdog Jodie Swallow (UK) surprised the triathlon world by storming to a dominating win at the 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater, FL.

Local teamTBB pro athletes Scott DeFilippis (NJ) and Jocelyn Wong (DE), both seconScottie at IMFLd-year pros, continue to show vast improvements by closing out their 2010 seasons with the best races of their young triathlon careers. Scottie went 8:43 at Ironman Florida to secure 11th in the men's pro race, shaving an entire 40 minutes off his previous Ironman PR. In her first race representing Delaware, "the Wongstar" took 12th in the pro women's race at Ironman Arizona in a season-best time of 10:04, against a stacked field that included the likes of triple Ironman World Champion Chrissie Wellington (race winner and teamTBB alumna) and at least six other Ironman champions.

If you miss Scott and Jocelyn at the Kona viewing party, they'll still be around this winter at TBB Wilmington to do workshops, lead some spin classes, and simply hanging out at the shop sipping coffee! Feel free to come by and ask them anything you want, whether it be about triathlon, nutrition, dating advice, or the meaning of life!

We hope to see you in the store this month and especially at the Kona Viewing Party and Mega Sale! It's our way of saying thanks for the support in our first year of business and helping us become a part of the local triathlon community. Please help us spread the word and forward this email to any friends that would be interested.

We are proud to serve you as the first triathlon-specific retailer in the first state...and of course the only tax-free tri shop in the tri-state area!

Stay warm and enjoy the off-season!
