“Home is not just where we
come from. Home is where we choose to belong.”
-Jeanette LeBlanc
Dear Saint Families and Friends:
Greetings from Berks Catholic! Happy Homecoming! Homecoming will always be special to me. Sure, it is fun and exciting – dress down days, special events, the Court. But it’s more than that for a place like Berks Catholic with its storied traditions of our two legacy schools, Reading Central Catholic and Holy Name. It is a cherished tradition bringing together current students, families, faculty and alumni in a celebration of who we are as a community. There is something especially heartwarming about seeing graduates return to the campus where they learned, grew, played and formed lifelong friendships. As alumni reconnect with former classmates and teachers, they are reminded of the many joyful memories they created through academics, athletics, extracurricular activities and shared experiences. Their continued support and love for the school reflects a deep commitment that extends far beyond graduation. That loyalty and support are an important part of the school's history and mission, serving as a living testament to the values, traditions and sense of community that have been passed from one generation of students to the next. Homecoming is not only a celebration of the present, but also a meaningful reminder that once you are part of the school family, you remain an important part of its story forever. I hope to see you next Friday night for the festivities. Have a great weekend!
It’s a great day to be a Saint!
Small acts. BIG Impact!

Thank you to our amazing and dedicated Extravaganza Committee led by Danielle Fowler who once again did a masterful job hosting our 45th Extravaganza. The gym was transformed into an Americana wonderland that would have made George and Betsy proud. The food was tantalizing, and atmosphere was joyful. Thank you to all who attended, who helped make it a wonderful celebration and who supported and donated to the event.

33 Days to Eucharistic Glory: Eucharistic Consecration
On Monday, October 19th we begin with our Eucharistic Consecration. Consecration sounds like a large word, but the idea is simple: giving yourself to Jesus and holding nothing back. Over the next few weeks, Saints will read a little each school day and grow toward that moment of Consecration. We hope you will also read along each day.
Kairos Retreat Sign-Ups
There is still time to sign up for Kairos! Kairos Retreat applications are due today, Friday, October 16th. Our fall Kairos Retreat will be taking place after school on Tuesday November 3rd until Friday November 6th at the Malvern Retreat Center in Malvern, PA. The Kairos Retreat offers students an opportunity to step away from the busyness of daily life and reflect on their faith, friendships and their own personal journey. Through student and adult talks, small group discussions, celebration of the sacraments, moments of prayer and free time, students discover a deeper sense of community and learn to see themselves, others and God with a new perspective. We hope that your Senior Saint will join us for this opportunity which many alumni have called their favorite memory from their time at Berks Catholic. Please see Mrs. Tona or Deacon Lanciano for a permission form. The cost of the retreat is $200. Financial aid is available. Please reach out to Mrs. Tona or Deacon Lanciano if you need financial aid or would still like to sign up.

College Counseling – Return on Investment (ROI)
News about our two newest MOU Partner Colleges: One of the many advantages when you attend Berks Catholic is working with the College and Career Counseling staff. Our counselors have established 35 agreements, Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), with colleges and universities that guarantee admission and scholarship money when a Saint meets certain admissions requirements. Seniors should carefully consider if one of our MOU schools could be the place for them next fall. For instance, a student with a 3.0-4.0 GPA applying to St. Bonaventure University would qualify for a $22,000-$30,000 scholarship ($88,000-$120,000 over four years) and an additional $5000 Good Journey Pathway Scholarship. A Saint with a 3.0-4.0 GPA applying to Iona University in New York would qualify for 50% off tuition scholarship which would be $25,000 for this coming year (resulting in at least $100,000 over four years). There are more college agreements that are currently being negotiated by our counselors. That’s quite an ROI for our Saints and their families! These agreements recognize the academic rigor and college preparedness provided at BC to each Saint. Our college counselors are available to answer any questions you might have about these MOUs.
