Dear Saint Families and Friends:

“Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come without leaving happier.”

-St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Greetings from Berks Catholic! Imagine for a moment if we always left people feeling happier because of the love we shared with them. How amazing! And what a tremendous world we would have. In thinking about the quote above, each of us could make small efforts every day or even weekly to share our love and make a person happy. Being the simple woman we have come to know that St. Teresa was, I am sure this approach would be one she would agree with. While we may think about her work and her efforts in grandiose terms - helping the poor, bringing people to God, eventually becoming a Saint - her approach in all of that was surely to share love with others each and every day. Simple yet impactful. Have a great weekend.

It’s a great day to be a Saint!

A Time to be BOLD!

District 3

Golf Tournament

Congratulations to Senior Golfer Braedan Stringer who finished in Third Place at the District 3 Golf Tournament! Well done!

Congratulations to the Girls’ Tennis Team who defeated Lancaster Country Day School 3-2 in the first round of Districts to advance to the Semifinal Round match against Camp Hill.

Congratulations to our Saints attending college rep visits. Two more reps shared comments about our Juniors and Seniors attending their presentations: "Those were some sharp young ladies. They had really, really great, detailed questions." -Christine Gibble, Ursinus College. Also,  “This is my biggest group to date. They were attentive, engaged and asked great questions.” Megan Curtin, St Joseph’s University. Impressive work, Saints!

Congratulations to the Cross Country Teams and Coach Heck who received a thank you note from the St. Ignatius CYO that read in part, “Thank you for recruiting the BC Cross Country runners to help at the St. Ignatius XC Meet yesterday. It was a huge success, and it would not have been if it weren’t for the help of your team. The kids have been so helpful and such positive influences to all the kids at the meets this season. It is great to see the pacers lead the races but also supporting the very last runner with encouragement the entire time. We appreciate your help and their leadership.” Terrific work, Saints!

Congratulations to long-time supporter of Catholic education and former BC Board Member, Kevin A. Moore, Esq, HN ’85, who received the Distinguished Alumni Award last week at Extravaganza. Thank you for your unwavering support of Berks Catholic!

Thank you to our amazing and dedicated Extravaganza Committee led by Danielle Fowler who once again did a masterful job hosting our annual gala. The gym was transformed into a BC casino that James Bond would have been proud to frequent. The food was tantalizing, and atmosphere was delightful. Thank you to all who attended the evening, who helped make it a wonderful celebration and who donated to the event.

What's Happening

School Mass

Our next school Mass will take place next Tuesday, October 14th at 1:15 p.m. in the Franco-Post Auditorium. Parents, guardians and families are always welcome to attend. If you plan to come to Mass, please sign in at the Main Office before coming down to the auditorium.

Goals for the Year

For the last two weeks, I shared with parents and guardians the goals that I had set for the current school year. For the next few weeks, I plan to share one goal each Friday and reflect on it. As the year moves forward, I will let families know how we are doing with achieving each of the goals that have been set.

  • Goal #3 is to visit all partner parishes and schools for Enrollment, Marketing and Advancement. We need to commit more time and energy to the areas of Enrollment, Marketing and Advancement. My hope is to schedule visits to all of Berks County churches and hopefully speak at Sunday Masses and then be available after all Masses to share information about the school. I also intend to visit our seven partner schools more often to continue to develop relationships with the Principals, teachers and families. I would also expect to engage alums from all three of our schools (Central Catholic, Holy Name and BC) by visiting these places.

Diocesan Schools Success

A recent article highlighted that students in the Diocese of Allentown are outperforming both state and national averages. This is a clear indication that Allentown Diocese schools are offering high quality academics in addition to fostering moral and Catholic values. The results show that our students’ performance is something to take notice of. Let us continue to work hard, stay focused and pray for continued progress in our diocesan schools. Let us never forget that our loving God is at the center of all we do. Kairos Retreat Sign-Ups

ONLY A FEW SPACES ARE LEFT! Kairos Retreat applications are available! Our fall Kairos Retreat will be taking place beginning after school on Tuesday November 11th until Friday November 14th at the Malvern Retreat Center in Malvern, PA. The Kairos Retreat offers students an opportunity to step away from the busyness of daily life and reflect on their faith, friendships and their own personal journey. Through student and adult talks, small group discussions, moments of prayer, and free time, students discover a deeper sense of community and learn to see themselves, others and God with a new perspective. We hope that your Senior Saint will join us for this opportunity which many alumni have called their favorite memory from their time at Berks Catholic. Please see Mrs. Tona or Deacon Lanciano for a permission form. The cost of the retreat is $200. Financial aid is available. Please reach out to Mrs. Tona or Deacon Lanciano if you need financial aid. Applications are considered in the order that they are received with payment. The deadline to apply is Friday October 17th.

Homecoming and the Big Tailgate

We hope you will join us on Friday, October 24th for the 2025 Homecoming Football Game against Annville-Cleona High School. Prior to the game, enjoy the Big Tailgate from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Enjoy lots of delicious food and the opportunity to mingle with other Saint families and alumni. The Homecoming ceremony with the Senior Court will begin at 6:35 p.m. Any partner school student wearing a partner school or BC spirit wear t-shirt is admitted to the game for free.
