February 6, 2026 Volume 3 - Issue 24

Dear Saint Families and Friends:

“A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.”

-Steve Maraboli

Greetings from Berks Catholic! Kindness matters. I’m sure you have seen this quote, maybe even on a sweatshirt, bumper sticker or billboard. Two simple, yet impactful words. It makes me proud when I see kindness in action here at school. It’s something I see every day from our students and staff. Some gestures are simple in nature and may get overlooked at times. Yet no matter the magnitude, every single gesture is important and touches us in ways others may never know. Just this week, I witnessed various Saints show kindness towards others: lend money to a peer in the cafeteria; hold a door open for his classmates; give a hug in celebration for something; offer a ride after school; and offer to deliver something to the second floor. All were quite simple gestures, but to someone in need, they could affect a person in a way we did not realize. Have a good weekend.

It’s a great day to be a Saint!

A Time to be BOLD!

Ready, Willing & Able Podcast

The podcast “Ready, Willing, & Able,” with host Genevieve Anatalio, seeks to help parents better understand the faith themselves and equip them to be "ready, willing, and able" to explain and cultivate the faith in their families. In the latest episode, host Genevieve Anatalio dives into the challenges and solutions for keeping children engaged in the Catholic faith throughout their lives. Anatalio is joined by Dr. Michael Rota, a professor of philosophy at the University of St. Thomas, to explore the factors leading to religious disaffiliation and the practical steps parents can take to nurture their children's faith. Dr. Rota shares data-supported points for what helps children believe and practice their faith for years to come. Anatalio and Rota agree on the importance of parental unity, religious activity, and supportive community in fostering a lasting faith. Course Selection

Course selection is underway. Students have received course selection materials and discussed appropriate placements, qualifications for classes, Career and Technology, Virtual High School and Dual Credit opportunities with Mrs. Vilardo, Director of Academics. Teachers will work directly with students to help guide them through class selections. Students are encouraged to schedule meetings with the College Counseling Department through their calendly links to assist with appropriate class selection. Course selection papers will be collected March 6th and require both a student and parent signature.

*Please be aware that payment for course selection is now invoiced through Simple Tuition Solutions (STS). Payment must be made by March 31st. If payment is not received, this may delay scheduling of classes for your Saint.

Service Hour Requirement

All Saints received a service hours summary report in homeroom from Deacon Lanciano this week. It shares their progress in achieving their service hour requirements and goals for the year. Parents and guardians are asked to review this summary with your Saint for its accuracy, so that you know where they stand with their service requirement. Please feel free to make notations or questions on the report, sign it and have your student return the report to their homeroom teacher by Friday, February 13th. If there are any questions about the accuracy of the information in the summary, have your Saint see or email Deacon Lanciano. Please contact Deacon Lanciano at rlanciano@berkscatholic.org or 610-374-8361 ext. 258 with any questions.
