I believe in combining songs with speech practice!
Many of you have heard me talk about using songs or poems for speech and language practice. I'm sure I sound like a broken record. :) Sometimes I use songs for the sheer joy of music, but there are times when I teach parents specific songs for very specific goals. I want to give parents songs that will build on their child's strengths and conquer their weaknesses. Here is a link to some songs that you can use to further expand motor speech practice using the Blast Off Board Sound Sequencing Set.
For example, when a child is needing consonant-vowel practice (CV), you can use these songs/poems below. Go to the link above for more suggestions. Also, consider using our recorded songs from our Song Sets 1-5 for a complete list of motor speech practice. A list of specific songs are in the URL link above.
The unique gift that a song or poem offers is the practice of "chains of three." Giving a child repetition of CV CV CV in a sequence prepares children for more complex phrases. Chains of three is the bridge between single CV structures and simple 2-3 phrases.
Me, Me, Me
Silly little monkey, swinging in a tree.
Who likes monkeys? Me, me, me
Jumping like a kangaroo and chimpanzee.
Who likes jumping? Me, me, me
