A Message from our PTA President, Kamela Aboussie
Dear Bradfield Families,
Whether you braved the crowds of a couple hundred thousand to cheer on the Sooners and the Longhorns, or you’re taking a mini vacation, I hope you’re enjoying the long weekend!
Our week at Bradfield was so happy! It was easy to celebrate our kind, intentional, smart and extra hard working leader, Dr. Hilton! I know she doesn’t love the spotlight, but she so graciously stood on our front steps under her big sign for hugs all week! And what sport! She is also Bradfield’s favorite and most famous Aggie, and come Friday she was all smiles in a sea of burnt orange…with the Texas fight song ringing across Southern Ave! We love you Dr. Hilton, and we are so grateful you lead our school so tirelessly and so beautifully!
Monday was also special because we welcomed two Bradfield alums and local artists, Lauren Cox and Ryan Woodall, to our school to judge our Centennial Art Contest. Lauren and Ryan are also two of my oldest and dearest friends. They attended Bradfield as kindergarteners in 1985 and graduated as 5th graders in 1991. While I felt like I was asking them for a favor, they were honored to be at Bradfield, and loved the trip down memory lane. Ryan, who is also a children’s book author, dropped off his newly published book “The Distraction Monster” in the library for Mrs. Penman to read, and Lauren found the directory cover she designed in 1990 in one of our display cases! Bradfield is where their journeys as artists began!
The artwork submitted by our Bradfield students for the Centennial art contest was, to say the least, VERY impressive! I am proud our students have so many different interests, and I am proud of our families for fostering them! I hope all our little artists will keep up the great work!
Enjoy the extra day tomorrow to relax, and remember to bring a costume for our Annual Costume Drive!
With love,
Kamela
