A Message from Dr. Hilton

Dear Bradfield Families,

I hope everyone is enjoying the cooler weather today.  As we finally move into the fall season, we have some exciting events planned.  On Wednesday, October 22, we will have the annual Carnival Pancake Breakfast.  It is a super fun event to get the kids excited for the Carnival! The Pancake Breakfast will be from 6:45 - 7:45am. You must be in line no later than 7:30am to get food at the Pancake Breakfast. Parents are welcome to attend with their children. Cost is $10 per child up to a maximum of $25 per family.

Then on Friday, October 24, we will have our Bradfield Elementary Carnival. It will be after school from 3:00-6:00pm.  Our theme this year is Space Cowboy.  There will be lots of games and activities.  Please see the reminders below to ensure we have a fun and successful event.

  • Dismissal forms were sent home with students on Friday. Please complete the form and return it to your child's teacher by Wednesday, October 22.

  • Southern Ave. will be closed between Douglas and Armstrong from 8:30 AM until 7:00 PM Friday.

  • There will be no afternoon carpool on Friday afternoon.

  • Students will be dismissed by grade level to parents on the front lawn starting with Pre-K and Kinder at 3:00pm.

  • Pre-K - 2nd grade students must be released to a parent or adult to accompany them home or to the Carnival.

  • 3rd and 4th grade students may attend the Carnival without a parent only with permission.
  • If they have permission to attend without a parent, 3rd & 4th grade students will be dismissed to the Carnival via the Sport Court.  Parents will meet up with their student at the Carnival. Please make arrangements with your student where to meet.
  • If 3rd & 4th grade students do not have permission to attend the Carnival without a parent, parents will pick them up at dismissal on the front lawn to take them home or to attend the Carnival.

** Students should not bring a backpack or water bottle on Friday (disposable water bottles are fine). If your child brings his or her lunch, please send in disposable packaging.**

Family Meet-Up Plan

Please take time this week to talk with your children about where you will meet if you get separated from each other. Some suggestions would be the DJ booth or inside the cafeteria.

Thank you for taking the time to plan and share your Carnival plans with your family.  It is truly going to be an out of this world event.

Finally, thank you, to our Bradfield families who continue to support our Broncos. I enjoyed a special Donors Breakfast last week with your children. I took an informal survey, and the favorite breakfast item seemed to be a tie between the bacon and the biscuits. Some students asked where the pancakes were, and I said they are coming this week with the Carnival Pancake Breakfast. Thank you, to Ms. Susan, Deborah, Joyce, and Jaime for preparing such a delicious meal for all to enjoy.

Please enjoy some of these fun pictures from Broncoland this week, and I will see you all on the front steps tomorrow morning.

A Message from our PTA President, Kamela Aboussie

Dear Bradfield Families,

I hope you’ve all enjoyed a great weekend! October is always full of activity both at school and on the weekend, so the rain forcing a little downtime on Saturday was nice! It was also nice because it’s giving a lot of good reason to our big reveal this week…our new turfed playfield at Bradfield! As I was sitting on the sofa Saturday watching football with my boys, you know what I thought? “It’s raining pretty hard outside, and...we do not have a muddy field at Bradfield!”

This project is a long time in the making, and it has been a giant team effort by so many! Bradfield families so kindly stop me to say thank you for taking this project on, though I want to be very clear that the ability to pay for, plan for and see the final (wonderful!) product though stretches far beyond me. It is made possible by decades of generous Bradfield families and sponsors who entrust donations to the care of the PTA. It is made possible by the Bradfield Dads Club who took on a large part of the construction planning and management, and by a wonderful contractor, Paragon, who took very seriously our greatest needs and my 10000 schedule reminders. It’s also possible because Dr. Hilton, in her second year (!) trusted us and became a great cheerleader for what this field will bring to our school. And, of course it is made possible by the many many many Bradfield PTA volunteers who came up with ideas for the field, supported the efforts, and wore hats, both big and small, to see it to completion. I am BEYOND grateful to each of you, and I’m really darned proud of our community!

Tomorrow is an exciting day at school! Our Broncos will find out the winning name of our field, and they’ll be the first busy feet to race through the gate onto our almost 2 acres of a brand new turfed field! As of tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 pm, the field will be open for you and your family to enjoy!

In 1976, in celebration of Bradfield’s 50th year, the PTA gifted a new playground to the school. Below are photos from their groundbreaking ceremony! And here we are 50 years later, hours away from unveiling our new playfield in celebration of Bradfield’s 100th year!

I wish this gift will be a blessing to our community as a place to gather, play, and to grow our friendships.

Enjoy this special week, and I hope to see you on the field!

With love and gratitude,

Kamela

This PC-TAG hosted Speaker Series was generously funded through a grant by La Fiesta De Las Seis Banderas.

HPISD Preschool applications for the 2026–27 school year are now open. Our preschool program provides a nurturing, engaging environment where our youngest learners build the foundation for lifelong success.
