A Message from Dr. Hilton

Dear Bradfield Families,

Walk to School Day was amazing!  It was so great to see everyone walking to school, socializing with each other, and enjoying a cup of coffee.  Blaze welcomed families and students along with our “live” stop lights, traffic cones, and stop signs.  HPPD officers handed out stickers to students as they entered the building. Thank you, PTA, for organizing this event. It was a great way to kick off the day.

I also want to thank our incredible Kindergarten moms for treating the staff to a delicious luncheon from Layo’s Catering on Wednesday. A special thanks to Lauren Calano, Sarah Ganier, and Rachel Huff for taking the time out of your day to create such a special luncheon for everyone. We all felt loved and appreciated.

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend, and I will see you on the front steps on Monday.

Kindly,

Dr. Aimee Hilton

A Message from our PTA President, Kamela Aboussie

Dear Bradfield Families,

It was such a fun week at Bradfield, and it was full!! It’s about the time in the year when we start feeling a little tired, with school and sports activities at their height.  I’m telling myself to lean in and roll with it (as if we have a choice!) because these are the days!

Last week, we hosted our General PTA meeting where four legendary coaches (Susan Bailey, Jerry Sutterfield, Tristan Weber and Jarvis Wilson) shared their wisdom on helping children develop character during these busy (and sometimes confusing) days of youth sports. Their insight was invaluable, and while I was scribbling notes, I wished I had recorded all they had to say! Much of their advice applies to elementary school days as a whole, and when they spoke about teamwork, I was reminded of our community. A general takeaway was about teaching our kids there is value in every role on a team (as the manager, the encourager who mostly sits on the bench or the star player.) They shared that a team’s success is built upon every individual taking pride in their unique role and cheering each other on so they all get better as a whole.

We had our 4th grade parent party last week at the Calano’s home, and it was bittersweet! I was reminded not only of how quickly these days pass, but also the value in bonding as a grade. We have a diverse group of families (boy parents, girl parents, Texans, non-Texans, working and stay-at-home parents, and the list goes on) and it is SO much fun learning through these last five years the role each family and each student plays on our 4th grade team, and in the bigger picture of our Bradfield experience.

And speaking of teamwork, our kind and dear and always smiling leader has a special week coming up! Join me this week in honoring Dr. Hilton during Principal Appreciation Week. Leading our school is a giant task, and Dr. Hilton does so with grace and optimism. She always prioritizes being a team player. We are so grateful for your heart and leadership, Dr. Hilton!

In the spirit of October, enjoy this cute photo below of a Bradfield Dad’s Club Pumpkin Patch Sale in the Flores family’s garage.

Wishing you a wonderful week!
