A Message from Dr. Hilton

Dear Bradfield Families,

Pumpkin Day is one of my favorite days of the year with students. The traditions of the adorable Kindergarten parade and the Dads Club Pumpkin Carving in the cafeteria were definitely memories in the making. Thank you to all of the Dads and Moms for making it such a fun day at Bradfield. Special thank you to BDC for organizing/cleaning and to Mrs. Susan and her team for cleaning and prepping.

Additionally this week, our 3rd graders shared their creepy, haunted houses. It was so cool to see their business and building plans come to life.

Our 4th grade Broncos wrote pumpkin disguise stories from a pumpkin’s point of view. We had so many creative and incognito pumpkins on campus!

Finally, two of our students opened Bronco Bites.  They created a cookie company where they bake, package, and sell cookies to staff members.  They did such a great job opening and running their business. We can’t wait for the next time Bronco Bites is open. The cookies were so delicious!  Way to go, Broncos!

Bradfield has so many incredible traditions, and over the last couple of weeks, it has truly been wonderful to see students, families, teachers, and staff come together to give our students engaging and enriching learning opportunities.

As I wrap up, don’t forget that Election Day is this Tuesday, November 4. Exercise your right to vote.

I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend, and I will see you all on the front steps on Wednesday, November 5.

Kindly,

Dr. Aimee Hilton

A Message from our PTA President, Kamela Aboussie

Dear Bradfield Families,

What a fun Friday we all had, and if you’re like me then you’re pretty happy for a long weekend to recover! There’s something so nostalgic about Halloween because it really hasn’t changed much since we were young. I LOVE that it brings the neighborhood together, it’s like a Bradfield event, just not at school! Though, Halloween sure did start at school. Bradfield’s long tradition of the Kindergarten Costume Parade was as cute as ever, followed by what seemed like a record breaking number of dads carving pumpkins! Thank you to all the parents and staff who made this Halloween at Bradfield another beloved memory for our little Broncos!

November is, by design, a little slower around school as we head into the holidays. Though we still have two special PTA events on the calendar. In a week we’re recreating an activity from Bradfield’s 50th year celebration, when students will learn the Charleston! As you know, Bradfield opened its doors in 1926, so this is a fun history lesson for students to dance the same dance as Bradfield’s first Broncos, and to carry on a Bradfield birthday tradition. We’re also inviting students to dress up on November 10th in their 1920’s best! This will be SO cute!

I found a cute newspaper clipping (below) from The Dallas Morning News of Bradfield students dressed up and dancing the Charleston in 1976!

Also next week (I am so excited!) we are bringing back One School One Book! Bradfield took a break for a few years from this program, and with the help of Dr. Hilton, Mrs. Penman and our precious chairs we will together be reading a classic for Bradfield’s 100th year! Keep a lookout as we announce more details in next Sunday’s Blaze, and prepare to get cosy with a good book as the weather gets cooler.

Sending a heartfelt thank you to each of you for all the energy and enthusiasm you poured into the month of October. Enjoy these extra days with your family, and we’ll see you Wednesday!

With love,

Kamela

Mad for Plaid is the HP Education Foundation’s annual campaign, the only districtwide fundraiser for HPISD. It raises essential funds to support the District’s most critical needs. This year, that need is clear: raising the bar for teacher and staff salaries across all campuses. Giving to Mad for Plaid is the best way to directly support our incredible educators!

YOU are an essential piece of the puzzle and the HP Education Foundation is grateful for your consideration.
