A Message from our PTA President, Kamela Aboussie
Dear Bradfield Families,
Can you believe our year is halfway over, and this is our final Blaze of 2025?! In August I made a note in my calendar to write a semester wrap-up letter in this week’s Blaze, and at the time December felt like a lifetime away. Here we are!
As I was planning for the ’25-’26 school year, my number one goal for the PTA was to build a community that highlights the sweetness, innocence and magic of elementary school. There’s nothing quite like it, when our children are out of the “baby phase,” but still want us around all the time.
I spent this weekend on a trip with my fourth grader, just the two of us! It’s not lost on me that times like these will be fewer and far between with a 10-year-old boy. I am soaking up the moments, and cherishing the days I have with him at Bradfield to walk him into his classroom, visit in the lunchroom and volunteer for a classroom event. It is so cliche, but it’s the truth…he’s half way through his last year at Bradfield while I really do feel like I walked him into Kindergarten yesterday! Like the semester, elementary school years go by in a blink!
And while the school year feels like it’s flashing by, we have navigated a lot together over the past six months, defining what makes our Bradfield community strong and special. I cannot wrap up our semester without acknowledging where we were when the school year started, reeling from the unimaginable loss of our precious Broncos, Lila Bonner and Eloise Peck. To the Bonners and the Pecks, we’ve been humbled watching you rise to celebrate sweet school moments with Scarlett and Holden. Thank you so much for the grace and courage you’ve shown our school. And, thank you to our families, students and staff for continuing to show support and love toward the Bonners and the Pecks.
We also hung tight during the field renovation project, making do with less space, closed sidewalks, amended arrival and dismissal rules, and construction trucks. Thank you for having great attitudes and for being flexible! I hope everyone feels it was worth the wait!
And, a big thank you for rallying to celebrate Bradfield’s 100th year! It’s been really fun to undercover Bradfield history, and so special to look back in reverence to our past. The best parts of our history and our traditions are what I hope most we carry forward to define our future.
We have navigated a lot while still keeping the ideals of elementary school at our forefront, making school days and memories feel sweet and special. A huge thank you to every family, student, PTA volunteer, BDC volunteer and staff member!
Happy, happy, happy holidays to everyone!
With my love and most sincere gratitude,
Kam
