A Message from our PTA President, Kamela Aboussie
Dear Bradfield Families,
It’s auction week! The Bradfield Millennial Centennial has been in the works for over a year, and I am so excited it’s finally here!
When the auction team and I first started meeting, they wanted to find a theme that made our Centennial year auction extra fun. They thought and thought with the last 100 years in mind, and the word “nostalgia” kept coming up. We were all thinking of things that made us feel nostalgic, and naturally those things are from our youth in the 80’s and the 90’s…the golden years of the Millennial generation. I remember sitting in my car on a conference call with Caitlin, Courtney and Lauren when we almost all at once said, “YES! The MILLENNIAL Centennial!”
The trip down memory lane has been SO MUCH FUN! I am a new follower of at least 10 instagram accounts posting images and reminders of the things we loved during our childhood (and have often forgotten about!)
What we wouldn’t give for a day in the life…reading the back of a cereal box before school, proudly sporting a plastic Smurfs, Ninja Turtles or She-Ra and He-Man lunchbox at school, a quick visit with Ronald McDonald and the Hamburgler for an after school treat, hours on the floor in front of a big box TV and a tangle of Nintendo cords, a stroll through the mall with a stop at Glamour Shots, Bath & Body Works and Sbarro, rolling with laughter at America’s Funniest Home Videos, no where to be except playing outside until the streets lights came on, and roaming the aisles of Blockbuster!
Saturday night will be a big celebration of how much fun we had in those days, to relive some favorite memories, and especially of how much we love Bradfield. The Bradfield Auction is a blast! I tell people all the time it’s one of my favorite nights of the year, a built-in way to spend time outside of school with Bradfield families you wouldn’t normally see.
Below are some cute photos from Bradfield’s Millennial Years.
I hope you all have a wonderful week, and I can’t wait to see you on Saturday night!
Love,
Kam
