A Message from Dr. Hilton

Dear Bradfield Families,

The tradition of the Third Grade Biography Day continued this week. Our 3rd graders did an incredible job as they brought to life historical icons such as Princess Diana, Elvis Presley, Jane Goodall, Bethany Hamilton, Albert Einstein, Dolly Parton, and Michael Jordan.  Their oratory performances and notable costumes impressed audiences.  Thank you to our Third Grade teachers for dedicating time to help students continue this tradition and create a memorable experience for our families.

Last Tuesday evening, several of our Broncos opened the Board of Trustees meeting by stating the district’s mission and vision statements and leading the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge. Kudos to Bowen Aboussie, Benjamin Abousie, Hollis Aboussie, Camille Merritt, and Claire Merritt. You did a fantastic job representing our school!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend, and I will see you at the front door tomorrow morning.

Kindly,

Dr. Aimee Hilton

HP Parents,

Tuesday, March 3 is Primary Election Day. While Highland Park ISD makes every effort to avoid holding classes during elections, the County has informed us that several of our campuses and facilities will be used as polling locations. Under state law, public schools are required to be made available as polling sites.

The County has enforced the use of these sites:

  • Administration Building
  • Armstrong Elementary
  • Bradfield Elementary
  • University Park Elementary
  • Highland Park Middle School

We understand that hosting an election on a school day may raise questions, and we want to reassure you that student and staff safety remains our highest priority.

To ensure a secure learning environment and minimize disruption to the instructional day, we have implemented the following measures:

  • Additional law enforcement officers will be present on campuses, in addition to each campus School Resource Officer (SRO).
  • Polling areas will be fully separated from student areas, with access clearly cordoned off from the main campus.
  • Alternate entrances will be designated for voters to prevent interaction with instructional spaces.
  • Additional District staff will be on site to monitor activity and support campus administration throughout the day.

These plans have been carefully coordinated in partnership with local law enforcement and election officials. Instruction will continue as scheduled, and our campuses will operate under normal safety protocols with enhanced supervision in place.

Thank you for your continued partnership and trust as we work to provide a safe and focused learning environment for all students and staff.

A Message from our PTA President, Kamela Aboussie

Dear Bradfield Families,

It was an exciting week of school spirit!

The week started on a high note coming off a fun and successful auction! Thank you again to everyone who donated and purchased tickets, and an extra shout out to the Bradfield parents who leaned into our Millennial theme in a major way…costumes were an A +++. We went right into a most precious Biography Day. It was a shining showcase of the confidence and intelligence instilled in our third graders. Then, the week finished with a special Centennial surprise as every student and staff gathered on the field in the shape of a 100 for a milestone photo! One of the photos is below, and I hope you’ve all had a chance to hop on Instagram to see how precious the videos turned out. HP alum Will Graham took the photos and videos for us, and he did an incredible job. I am hopeful it’s a memory our students carry with them for a lifetime!

As we enter springtime, we have many more 100th year celebrations in store! Next week is the Art Show during Open House. Over the summer I met with Ms. Cromley to see if she’d be willing to tie in the 100th year theme to the Art Show. She took this to the next level in a big way and built it so beautifully into her curriculum for the year!

This year Ms. Cromley’s students studied some of the most influential artists of the last century. The pieces for the Art Show reflect their studies! Our Kindergarteners studied the bold, abstract art of Piet Mondrian, adding a fun personal touch to their art. First grade artists learned all about the swirling, abstract paintings of Wassily Kandinsky and created beautiful watercolor pieces. In second grade, cityscapes were created in Mondrian fashion with dotted skies inspired by Roy Lichtenstein. Third graders took a voyage to the Harlem Renaissance, studying the collage works of Romare Bearden. And in fourth grade students learned about Georgia O’Keefe’s art, creating desert landscapes inspired by O’Keefe’s beloved New Mexico home.

Art has long played an important and lasting role at Bradfield. Below are some sweet examples of Bradfield art over the last ten decades!

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Love,

Kamela
