A Message from Dr. Hilton

Dear Bradfield Families,

Great Friends’ Day was a great success!  It was well-attended, and we enjoyed celebrating the special guests who spent the morning with us.  No matter if this was their first Great Friends’ Day or not, we were thrilled to have each of them attend.

A special thank you to those who helped Great Friends Day be such a success! PTA Great Friends Day Chairs, Amanda Bailey, Liz Wilson, and team for planning, organizing, communicating, and ensuring we had valet service and photo opportunities.

Bradfield Music Teacher, Mr. Foley for teaching our students and having them deliver a stellar performance.

Cafeteria Staff, Ms. Susan, Debra, Joyce, and Jaime for hosting a wonderful welcome.

Mr. Hector and team for the set-up and breakdown.

I would also like to thank our PTA Book Fair Chairs, Kristy Ferguson and Rachel Huff. Our Broncos loved shopping this week. Not only did they get some great reading materials, but the money raised goes back to purchasing more library books. Thank you, ladies.

I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend, and I will see you at the front doors on Tuesday.

Kindly,

Dr. Aimee Hilton

Dear Bradfield Parents,

As we begin to wrap up another incredible school year, I would like to take a moment to thank you for your continued support, partnership, and trust.  It has been a privilege to work collaboratively with our amazing teachers and witness the growth, resilience, and enthusiasm for learning of all of our Broncos.

I would also like to thank our Bradfield families, students, and staff for providing feedback through the School Experience Survey last semester.  Our data revealed that Bradfield Elementary has many areas of strength to celebrate.

Some of the highest-ranking indicators among all stakeholders were the following:

  • Teachers and staff genuinely care about the students.
  • Students feel safe and respected.
  • The school is clean and well-maintained.
  • The school has a healthy partnership between parents and teachers.

Some of the areas of opportunity and growth were the following:

  • Parents and students desire more challenging work.
  • Teachers give helpful feedback about student work.
  • A desire for healthier food choices in the cafeteria.

Moving forward and in preparation for the next school year, Bradfield teachers and staff will continue to build and foster positive relationships with our parents and students.  We understand the importance of these partnerships in order to have shared goals and high expectations for all of our students.

Bradfield teachers and staff will also increase communication with our parents beyond the beginning of the year, middle of the year, and end of the year assessment data so parents are informed of their students’ progress, strengths, and opportunities for growth.

Additionally, Bradfield leadership will provide our teachers with targeted professional development on engagement and differentiated instruction.  This will support our teachers as they provide small group instruction that will be tailored to meet individual students’ needs and provide opportunities for optimal growth.

Finally, Bradfield leadership will continue to meet with the PTA Cafeteria Committee, Director of HPISD Food Services, and Bradfield’s Cafeteria Manager to discuss possible healthier food options for the next school year.

Thank you again for your feedback and continued support as we partner to give our Broncos the best education possible.

Kindly,

Dr. Aimee Hilton

A Message from our PTA President, Kamela Aboussie

Dear Bradfield Families,

I hope you’re all enjoying the long holiday weekend! Ours is always very (sunrise) early, sugary and active, and with all the fun I’m hopeful by the time you’re reading this we’re back on the sofa with a family movie on! Now that Spring Break and this long weekend are behind us it’s feeling like a sprint to the finish line!

Great Friends’ Day and the Book Fair were both such fun! There’s a bit of nostalgia in both of them, and it’s safe to say they are two of our little Broncos most well-loved events of the year.

While browsing the Book Fair one mom turned to me and said, “I just love a Book Fair. They’re always happy.” And it was! It’s been a few years since I’ve had a kindergartener, so I’d forgotten how exciting it is for a student to shop on their own at school for the first time! Sports and animals were the winning subjects in our house this year. And, honestly, it warms my heart a little when once a year when my children come home with the same journals, posters and erasers I came home with from Armstrong in 1990!

And Great Friends Day is just the best! We kicked off the party on the front steps this year with some country music, and the rain stopped right on time. Over 1000 “Great Friends” visited Bradfield for our annual Texas-themed showcase. There’s literally no staff member in the school, from our classroom teachers to Mrs. Susan and Mr. Foley, who doesn’t work extra hard to make the day wonderful and filled with tradition. Bradfield parents will never again hear “The stars at night….” without thinking of Great Fridays Day!

We’ve been looking forward to April all year as we prepare to celebrate Bradfield’s Centennial next week! I am so excited for our community to come together for this special, once every 100 years, occasion. Signing off with this cute photo sent to me last week ahead of our Homecoming by Susan Cox, a former Bradfield mom of one of my dearest friends. In the photo is a fabric mosaic of the old Bradfield with handmade dolls representing each member of the graduating 5th grade class of 1991. Every student chose and made their doll’s outfit (reflective of their personality), and they also chose the placement of their doll on the school, which I’m told was also reflective of their personality!

Enjoy the extra day off tomorrow, and we’ll see you on Tuesday!

Love,

Kamela
