A Message from Dr. Hilton

Dear Bradfield Families,

I hope you and your family had a smooth transition back into routine after the long Labor Day weekend. Although this was a short week, it was certainly a full and productive one!

The students returned energized and ready to learn, and it’s been great to see them settling back into their rhythm. We’ve made meaningful progress this week, and we’re already looking ahead to what’s coming next.

As we move into September, here are a few reminders and updates:

  • On Thursday, September 11th, Bradfield will proudly participate in Patriot Day. We will take this opportunity to honor our First Responders. Bradfield Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will play a special role as they help lead this important ceremony. Parents are welcome to participate as the students and faculty will gather around the flagpole, on the Sport Court, at 8:05 am.

  • Reading Rodeo kickoff is September 17th. A Century of Stories is the theme this year. It is a great time to foster our students’ passion for reading. Please be sure to read through The Blaze for additional information about this wonderful event.

This past Friday we hosted our first staff appreciation lunch in honor of our amazing fourth-grade teachers — Mrs. Cannon, Mrs. Korn, Mrs. Barnes, and Ms. VonEnde. To celebrate our magnifique staff, we whisked them away to Paris (no passports required!) with a café-style lunch featuring fresh salads, croissant sandwiches, and decadent treat

Thanks to the generous donation from the Bame and Wallace families, Village Bakery helped transform the faculty lounge into a true French bistro — complete with sandwich flags for an authentic touch. Jane Anne Meggs (J. Blooms) designed gorgeous floral arrangements to match the Parisian theme, and each teacher took one home as a keepsake

It was such a delightful afternoon — and the best part, absolutely no jet lag! A big thank-you to Susannah Bame, Kiki Wallace, Mari Foteh, Katy Miller, Jamie Ashby, Madeleine Fidler, and Elise Riter for making it all possible.

I hope you all have an amazing weekend, and enjoy some of these sweet pictures from Broncoland.

A Message from our PTA President, Kamela Aboussie

Dear Bradfield Families,

Fall is in swing! Football and a couple hours of long sleeves puts an extra spring in your step! Last week was a short week at Bradfield, but full! We had picture day, volunteer sign ups, our first Staff Appreciation Lunch, and a crew of PTA volunteers working behind the scenes to pull it all off. I am so grateful for your hard work! And, if you haven’t seen it yet, treat yourself to a glimpse of the entry display case. No kidding, it rivals a New York City department store window!

We have a fun line-up of activities this week, including our Patriot’s Day Flagpole Ceremony on Thursday after drop-off. A couple weeks ago I mentioned Bradfield’s 50th Year Scrapbook. Within it are photos from Bradfield’s 1975 Flagpole Ceremony at the flagpole in Highland Park Village, and a write-up from the Park Cities People on (of all days!) September 11, 1975.

Bradfield’s 50th year was also the 200th year and the Bicentennial Celebration of the United States of America, so Bradfield stayed on a patriotic theme for the year with many of their schoolwide celebrations. In the photos below the Marine Color Guard is raising an official Bicentennial Flag along with the American Flag, while the Highland Park High School band marches. And notice, Highland Park Village still looks the same!

We have our own fun and exciting plans to celebrate Bradfield’s 100th year, so be sure to click the link below to see what’s coming!

Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!
