Standing United: Honoring Our Heroes & Advancing Officer Safety

Dear Philadelphia Police Foundation Friends,

In the wake of this weekend's heartbreaking tragedy, our community stands together in grief and solidarity after two of our brave 19th District officers were ambushed and shot in the line of duty. We mourn the tragic loss of Officer Shane Seiber—a 10-year PPD veteran, Air Force veteran, loving husband, and father of two young children—and continue praying for our second officer, a 33-year-old father of five who has made encouraging progress but still faces a significant journey toward healing.

This devastating loss is a sobering reminder of the immense dangers our officers face every single day to protect Philadelphia. It also reinforces the core of our mission at the Philadelphia Police Foundation: Officer Safety. Be it critical equipment, technology, or specialized training, we work tirelessly to raise the funds necessary to keep our brave men and women as safe as possible on the job. In times of tragedy, our commitment to standing alongside the Department, our officers, and their families is absolute.

This reality makes the final mile of this Sunday’s 8th Annual Run for Blue on October 18th more profound than ever. We carry the memory of the fallen—especially Officer Shane Seiber—and support their families with every step. They will never be forgotten. If you would like to run, walk, or stand with us this Sunday, please join us by registering here. Read on for additional information about the Run for Blue.

Thank you for your steadfast support as we stand united with the entire Philadelphia Police Department.

With gratitude,

Maureen Rush

High-Impact Support

With support from PPF donors, the Foundation continues to fund critical technology, equipment, and programs for the PPD.

Celebrating Local Heroes: Police Commissioner Community Partnerships Awards

The Philadelphia Police Foundation was proud to support the first Philadelphia Police Department Community Partnerships Awards Program this summer. With 150 guests present, Commissioner Bethel and PPD leaders honored local residents for their commitment to their neighborhoods, outstanding contributions to public safety, and dedication to crime prevention. This event reinforces that building safer neighborhoods requires strong, trusting partnerships between our officers and the communities they serve.

Police Appreciation Days

The Philadelphia Police Foundation (PPF), in partnership with Wawa, was proud to host our 5th annual Police Appreciation Day on September 30th where we show our gratitude to all Philadelphia Police Officers! Through this ongoing partnership, PPF and Wawa provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner to cover every shift across all PPD Districts. This tradition is made possible through the generosity of Appreciation Day Sponsor AT&T FirstNet and all of our supporters. Thank you to our donors for helping PPF show our deep gratitude to the men and women of the PPD who dedicate themselves to keeping Philadelphia safe every day!

PPF In Action

Investing in Compassion: Supporting Victim Advocates Training

PPF is proud to have funded specialized training for 6 PPD Victim Advocate Officers to attend the Victim Services Foundational Academy in State College, PA. Held this past July, the intensive three-day program provides critical instruction in the Rights and Services Act and the Victims of Crime Act. Through classroom study, group discussions, and interactive exercises, participating officers strengthened their expertise in vital areas, including trauma-informed care and crisis intervention.

Equipping officers with these skills and advocacy tools ensures they are prepared to support crime victims with empathy and expertise during their most vulnerable moments. The Foundation remains committed to funding programs that empower officers and enhance the compassionate services delivered to our Philadelphia community.

PPD "Thank You" Campaign

This past summer, Philadelphia welcomed a record number of visitors for major global events. Through it all, the men and women of the PPD worked around the clock to keep our city safe. To show our gratitude, PPF has launched an Appreciation Drive featuring digital billboards across the city.

This campaign was made possible through the generous support of Peter Madden and AgileCat, who donated their time and creative talent.

Donor Spotlight: Peter Madden, CEO, AgileCat

The Philadelphia Police Foundation is fortunate to be guided by a Board of Directors comprised of dedicated civic leaders who generously contribute their time, treasure, and talent in support of our men and women in blue. In this month's Donor Spotlight, we are pleased to feature Board Vice President Peter Madden and his agency, AgileCat.

For over 20 years, Peter—Founder & CEO of AgileCat, a leading Philadelphia-based branding and advertising agency—has been a cornerstone of the Foundation. Beyond his personal financial support and Board leadership, Peter generously donates AgileCat’s full creative power and business resources to advance our mission. Through his vision and dedication, he has played a pivotal role in growing the Foundation to provide over $1 million in funding to the Philadelphia Police Department each year!

Peter and his team at AgileCat, including Vice President for Creative Strategy Erin Needham, manage all of the Foundation’s marketing and communications. From designing our website and brand identity to creating our logo, race shirt, and branding for the Run for Blue and Night for Blue, AgileCat ensures our message resonates across the region.

As both a passionate donor and a strategic leader, Peter amplifies our work and ensures we can continue delivering vital resources to the brave officers who keep Philadelphia safe. Thank you, Peter and AgileCat, for your extraordinary partnership and unwavering commitment!

Holidays are Coming: Shop with a Cop

Donate today to Make a Difference

As the holiday season approaches, the PPD and PPF are getting ready for one of our favorite days of the year: Shop with a Cop!

For more than 500 local children in need, this day is more than just a trip to the store—for many, it is their sole chance to receive a holiday gift. By pairing each child with a Philadelphia Police Officer to shop for gifts for themselves and their families, this program builds lasting trust, fosters positive mentorship, and creates joyful memories between our officers and the communities they serve.

Every donation directly funds this tradition by providing each child with a $150 gift card to shop alongside an officer.

Your generosity helps bring smiles to local children and strengthens community connections across Philadelphia.
