CitySquash students and staff have been making the most of these shorter days. We celebrated the holidays with our annual talent show, got on the road for a number of squash tournaments and matches, and held a fun new event -- a three-person team doubles tournament! The men's draw was won by three CitySquash alums, pictured above, who love doubles and play as much as they can in their free time. As we settle into the rhythm of 2025, we remain busy in the classroom and on the squash courts. Plus, we are counting down the months until our new home is complete. Read below for all the updates. College News Arrives!

Early decision college acceptances have arrived. Janthony, pictured above, was thrilled to learn that he'd been granted a spot -- and a full scholarship! -- at Middlebury College through the Posse Foundation. Janthony will be the fourth CitySquash student to attend Middlebury. Other seniors were accepted to Connecticut College, Boston University, Bard College, Chatham University, Fordham University, University of Hartford, Pratt Munson, SUNY Delhi, and St. Lawrence University. More college news will come in this spring, and we look forward to working with each student to find the best match for them. We are so proud of our seniors and the work they have put in to get to this juncture. | |

After a lengthy tryout process, this December we welcomed very excited groups of third graders and sixth graders to our team. With their families in the audience, we celebrated their acceptance to the program and the incredible journeys they are about to embark on with CitySquash. Dizewe is Student of the Month!

Dizewe, a 6th grader, has consistently demonstrated academic excellence and strong work ethic. He earned a spot as the runner-up in our inaugural CitySquash Middle School spelling bee, showcasing his impressive vocabulary. Dizewe made the Dean’s List at JBA and performed extremely well on his mid-assessment. Dizewe’s focus and discipline make him a role model for his peers. | |

Eduardo is Player of the Month!

Eduardo, a 7th grader, has demonstrated consistent hard work and drive on the squash court. His efforts led him to win three matches at his first silver tournament this winter. He is always keen and ready to work hard. His motivation to improve is inspirational as is his positive attitude and willingness to take any opportunity to get on court. We look forward to cheering Eduardo on throughout the rest of the squash season! | |

OUR NEW HOME
Students Tour Their Future Club

The Julian H. Robertson Jr. CitySquash Center remains on track to open this spring. We love opportunities for our students and alums to visit the building and to learn from the architects who have worked so hard to make our dream a reality. Pictured above, four students stand on the future viewing gallery with Tim Keesee of Gluck+. Tim has been working fulltime at our site since August 2023. Currently, lights are being installed, flooring is being finalized, and we are anxiously awaiting the delivery of our squash courts. Triple Threat for the Win!

Our inaugural three-person doubles tournament was a huge success! With a men's, women's, and mixed draw, we had a weekend full of competition and fun. Huge thanks to the Heights Casino for hosting us and to all the players for their energy and fundraising efforts. $100,000 was raised for the organization. We can't wait for next year! | |
