New Releases

Fiction

Until Alison by Kate Russo ($30)

"Instantly earning a place in the canon of dead girl college campus novels, (this) is a chillingly readable tale about adolescent cruelty, popularity, and class. When the body of her former classmate, Alison, is discovered at a local swimming hole, Rachel Nardelli embarks on a reluctant exhumation of their friendship, capturing in forensic detail the horrors of 8th-grade rivalry, and how far teenagers will go in the name of self-preservation. Exposing the tension between the crimes we commit in our youth and the people we become as adults, (this) is a masterclass in middle-school angst." —Ellie Eaton, author of The Divines

9780593874325 image

The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno-Garcia ($29)

“Back then, when I was a young woman, there were still witches.” That was how Nana Alba always began the stories she told her great-granddaughter Minerva—stories that have stayed with Minerva all her life. Perhaps that’s why Minerva has become a graduate student focused on the history of horror literature and is researching the life of Beatrice Tremblay, an obscure author of macabre tales.

9781668089460 image

The Greatest Possible Good by Ben Brooks ($28.99)

Here is an irresistibly funny and incisive novel about a wealthy family that is confident in its good intentions—until the discovery that their patriarch has secretly given all their money to charity ruins their lives.

9781639735723 image

Cheesecake by Mark Kurlansky ($26.99)

We follow one Manhattan block as an ancient cheesecake recipe--and a conniving landlord--change the Upper West Side forever. No cream cheese, no graham cracker crust, somehow savory and sweet, the recipe is enigmatic--and suddenly, it's all anyone on West 86th Street can talk about.

9781250910271 image

If You Love It, Let It Kill You by Hannah Pittard ($28.99)

A novelist learns that an unflattering version of herself will appear prominently—and soon—in her ex-husband’s debut novel. For a week, her life continues largely unaffected by the news—she cooks, runs, teaches, entertains—but the morning after baking mac ’n’ cheese from scratch for her nephew’s 6th birthday, she wakes up changed. The contentment she’s long enjoyed is gone. In its place: nothing. A remarkably ridiculous midlife crisis ensues, featuring a talking cat and a game called Dead Body.

Nonfiction

9780063270183 image

The Mission: The CIA in the 21st Century by Tim Weiner ($35)

A gripping and revelatory history of the CIA in the 21st century, reaching from 9/11 through the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to today’s battles with Russia and China—and with the President of the United States. "This masterful new history should be required reading. . . . Astonishing. . . . A singular triumph." — Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

9781984863188 image

Boustany: A Celebration of Vegetables from My Palestine by Sami Tamimi ($37.99)

This celebrates the diverse cuisine of Palestine with more than 100 plant-based and vegetarian recipes for festive meals, breads, desserts, and more, from the award-winning co-author of Jerusalem, Falastin and co-founder of Ottolenghi.

9780593475614 image

Midnight on the Potomac: The Last Year of the Civil War, the Lincoln Assassination, and the Rebirth of America by Scott Ellsworth ($32)

This is a new kind of book about the Civil War. In it you will read about the Confederate attempt to burn down New York City, how Lincoln almost lost the presidency, about the Rebel general who nearly captured Washington, and how thousands of enslaved African Americans freed themselves—and helped secure their nation’s survival. In an age of deep political division such as our own, Ellsworth’s book is an eloquent and gripping testament to the courage, grit, and greatness of the American people.

9780593295908 image

The Aviator and the Showman: Amelia Earhart, George Putnam, and the Marriage That Made An American Icon by Laurie Gwen Shapiro ($35)

"If you're a rule-follower watching our current political and social moment with goggle-eyed disbelief, this incisive essay collection about the way the American Dream hasn't quite panned out (and maybe was only ever meant to benefit a chosen few) will be a balm for your soul." — People, Best Nonfiction Books of Summer 2025

9781639369133 image

The Great Chinese Art Heist: Imperialism, Organized Crime, and the Hidden Story of China's Stolen Artistic Treasures by Ralph Pezzullo ($29.95)

The Day the Books Disappeared by Joanna Ho and Caroline Kusin, illustrated by Dan Santat ($18.99)

Arnold didn't mean for the books to disappear—not exactly. It all started because he liked his book about airplanes best. Why would anyone want to read about tomatoes or ostriches or submarines when they could read about planes, instead? When Arnold realizes he can make the other books vanish, he goes a little too far. Before he knows it, all the books are gone…including his. Can Arnold figure out how to bring them back before it’s too late? Ages 3 - 7

9781662621062 image

We Match! By Chris Barton, illustrated by Sharon Glick ($18.99)

Super Goat Girl by Tracey Baptiste, illustrated by Dapo Adeola ($18.99)

9781646145065 image

Beinoni by Mari Lowe ($18.99)

In a Beinoni time there should be no war, no terrible illness, no crime. Even if that also means there won’t be any great discoveries, any cures, anything extraordinary. Ezra believes that’s worth fighting for. In fact, he’s been training most of his life to fight a battle to determine whether Beinoni time continues, or gives way to a more violent, less certain future. Ages 8 - 12

9781250864741 image

Spark by Chris Baron ($19.99)

"This stunning novel in verse shows the impact of climate change and wildfires, and the struggle of living on the border between the forest and urban areas. ... Baron balances the emotional weight of trauma by showing characters healing in a variety of ways. Returning wildlife serves as a promise of regrowth and possibility for a different kind of future. Beginning before the fires, continuing through evacuation, and including the season of rebuilding, Spark highlights the impact of wildfires alongside the importance of healing, all while nourishing the brightest spark of all, hope." — Booklist, starred review Ages 10 - 14
