Welcome!
The Bradford House is open for the season.  Reservations are NOT required for a tour.  Please feel free to contact us about any of our upcoming events.

  PLEASE ATTEND

a dedication to the David Bradford House's "Kitchen and Tavern" on Wednesday September 12, 2012 from 6-8 pm.

During this time, the David Bradford House, Tavern and Kitchen will be open for viewing.  Light refreshments and beverages will be served.

A little background on these two structures:

The 'Kitchen a.k.a. Cabin" - A replica of an 18th century cabin on the approximate location of the Bradford's original outdoor cabin/kitchen, thus reclaiming a piece of our local history.  This structure will allow us to conduct 18th-century  cooking demonstrations and to better interpret what life was like for David Bradford and his family and other families on the western frontier.

New Kitchen

The "Tavern" - A section of the House that we use to refer to as the kitchen.  It is located at the back of the house on the first floor.  There is a separate door to enter this room of the House.

Please let me know if you plan on attending!

If you've only visited the House once, there is a lot you have missed.  We offer many different themed tours.  For example, we offer tours emphasizing the rather gruesome details of the Whiskey Rebellion, tours describing the character of life on the Pennsylvania frontier in the late 1700's, and tours featuring the details of the House and its elegant furnishings.  In fact, the House and its furnishings become even more interesting upon close inspection.  Who knew that copper tea kettles where hammered together with dovetail-like joints?  So come back.  See more!
