The Brennan & Rogers, PLLC Journal
November 2019 Edition
Mary Kathryn Brennan, Esq.
Named a Rising Star for 2019 by Superlawyers!
This is Mary Kathryn's Fifth Straight Nomination!
Mary Kathryn has been named a rising star for the fifth year in a row! The nomination process is part peer nominations evaluations and independent research. Other requirements for inclusion in Rising Stars, are that a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or less. While up to 5 percent of the lawyers in a state are named to Super Lawyers, no more than 2.5 percent are named to Rising Stars.

We are humbled to know that her colleagues see what we already know to be true. Congratulations Mary Kathryn!

(Smilie was also named a Rising Star in 2013!)
November Awareness Month Highlights
National Family Caregiver Month
Since its' formal inception in 1993, the Caregiver Action Network, formerly the National Family Caregivers Association, has had one mission- and that was to give support and respect to family caregivers aroudn the country. As with most ideas, it has a grassroots beginning in 1991 when Two women,Suzanne Mintz and Cindy Fowler, bonded over their mutual struggles of caregiving- Suzanne's husband had MS and Cindy;'s mother had Parkinsons. "Our original vision was to get information and resources into people's hands and to let them know they weren't alone," according to Fowler." T heir mission to help support those who don't know where to turn and who may not even realize they are a "dfamily caregiver" or what that term even entails was the catalsyt for the now named Caregiver Action Network and their work to raise awareness was recognized on a national level when Former President Bill Clinton signed the first NFC Month Presidential Proclamation in 1997

Alzheimer's Awareness Month
Alzheimer’s Awareness Month was proclaimed as November by Former President Ronald Reagan in1983 after he gained an understanding of how this devastating condition profoundly impacts people. President Reagan himself was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and in November of 1994 wrote an open letter to the American people about his diagnosis.

National Home Health Care Month
"Home care includes a range of medical, social, assistive and other services provided in an individual’s home when a person needs follow‐up care after a hospital visit or requires long term care.
These comprehensive services are provided by nurses, therapists, home health aides and other direct‐care staff under the direction of a physician’s order. The focus of these patient‐centered services includes prevention, recuperation, and/or an alternative to higher‐cost institutional care that would otherwise be provided in a hospital or nursing facility."
