Dear Brick Families & Friends,
I am pleased to share highlights from the School’s 2025 Strategic Plan, unanimously approved by the Day School Committee and the Session of The Brick Presbyterian Church. Following the School’s NYSAIS 10-year reaccreditation in 2022, the DSC’s Strategic Planning subcommittee launched a Strategic Planning process, with input from a wide array of constituents including School and Church leadership, faculty, and parents, and deep consideration of the current and future needs of the school.
We are proud to share our updated Mission, Values and Commitments Statement, revised to clearly articulate our School’s identity in one cohesive message.
Our Mission
At The Brick Church School, children are guided to be happy, self-confident community members, mindful of God’s love, accepting of themselves and others, and filled with curiosity and joy in learning.
Our Values and Commitments
As a mission of the Brick Presbyterian Church, our School is grounded in Christian values of love and compassion, values which are shared by many religious traditions and faith communities.
We commit to creating a welcoming and joyful environment for children and adults of all backgrounds in our diverse and inclusive community, where the dignity and value of each person is recognized and celebrated.
We recognize the inherent human need for connection and belonging, and provide “Windows and Mirrors” to offer a view into the lives and experiences of others while reflecting the identities of each member of our community with respect and care.
We see children as capable learners, filled with curiosity and interest in the world around them. We value play as the work of children and provide meaningful, age-appropriate learning opportunities to foster growth in all areas.
We encourage our students, families, and educators to care for others with their words and actions. We believe young children can meaningfully participate in efforts to help others, and these experiences develop empathy and help children feel empowered to make a positive difference in their community and beyond.
We are also thrilled to share the School’s strategic programmatic updates for the 2026-2027 school year. The funds raised by your generous support of our Biennial Auction will contribute to realizing these plans.
-
Expansion of the 2’s Program to 5-days a week. Yes, this means all three sessions of the 2’s Program will be offered 5-days a week!!
-
Expansion of our 5 North classroom. This will increase student capacity for this beloved 3’s classroom from 10 to 15 children.
-
Relocation of the Library from the 5th to the 2nd floor. Now Brick’s youngest children will also be able to experience the joy of the School’s library.
-
Refreshing play equipment in both the Garden and the Rooftop playground.
-
Improving several children’s bathrooms that are due for some improvements.
On behalf of the Day School Committee, I hope you will join in on the excitement as our Strategic Plan is set into motion. Many thanks to the unwavering dedication of Marie, Farley, Tara, Susan, Brick’s professional community, Parents Association and our wonderful parent volunteers. We look forward to celebrating with you at the Children’s Fair on May 29!
With Gratitude,
Molly Berry
