The Bridge
February 3, 2023
The Mission of St. John’s is to be a community of God’s people who heal brokenness, build bridges, and exemplify borderless kindness.

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!
I am very grateful to everyone who helped make the annual meeting a success. The written and oral reports were informative. The copies of agendas, reports, budget, and all other documents were made available not only on paper but also electrically. The St. John’s website still has everything available for people. The reception once again exceeded expectations.
However, a successful annual meeting is only possible if it reflects what has been accomplished and goals that have been set. In other words, everyone of you who has participated in the mission of the church throughout last year had a role in the success of the annual meeting. I encourage you to look at the video on our website featuring the events of 2022.
I look forward to another year with all of us praying, worshiping, learning, playing, and serving together. I trust that with God’s help we will continue to grow in our discipleship following Jesus' example to love God with all our hearts and love our neighbor as ourselves.

Sunday Morning Christian Formation
9:45 a.m. - Sunday
Sunday Morning Bible Study will resume this Sunday, February 5. The class starts at 9:45 a.m. in the Church Sanctuary (Nave).Mother Minerva will lead lectionary Bible Study.
Next Sunday, February 12, Fr David will begin a four weeks series:
Origins and Growth of the Bible
We will consider the origins and growth of the Bible in English. We'll start with the very early versions and consider the work and sacrifices that went into them and how one translation built on a previous one. We'll look at the King James Bible and then go on to recent versions (but not all 400 of them). Finally we'll examine the best versions available to a reader today and discuss how personal taste may enter into our choice.
Please contact Mother Minerva for more information.

Cornerstone Literary Circle -
Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
Cornerstone Literary Circle is returning with a gripping new work by Javier Zamora entitled Solito. The New York Times reviewed this book in September and October this year. The Times said, “Zamora writes in such a way that you never forget that this harrowing journey is being experienced by a child … In telling this story from a child’s perspective, describing his surroundings with plainness, presenting his survival without bluster, he reveals the true horrors of migration.”
If you would like to join us for this book discussion, please contact Laurie Williams.
