The Bridge
March 11, 2022

The Mission of St. John’s is to be a community of God’s people who heal brokenness, build bridges, and exemplify borderless kindness.
Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 13
Don't be late!
Diocesan Council Highlights
from those who were there!

"I was impressed by two things: 1. the variety of pastoral care ministries supported by the diocese and the Episcopal Health Foundation and 2. the number of smart, committed women that I saw at the convention." (Henry Welles)

"I loved seeing/hearing how many new churches have been planted in the Diocese of Texas in the last three years, where they are located, and what they are named. New church plants grow from a gathering, to a community, to a mission, and finally to parish status. They tend to attract new people who are not drawn to existing churches." (Catherine Turner)

"It is always a joy to attend Diocesan Council with fellow church members. The valuable time spent together, getting to know new things about each other, is priceless. Also, it gives me pride to witness the recognition, given by the Diocese, and the joyful “hoopla” that is expressed toward the newly formed congregations. It’s spiritually uplifting and you truly feel the presence of the Lord." (Sandra Ward)

"I am excited to be part of a diocese that is extremely generous. We learned of the millions of dollars that the diocese is giving to support important work throughout the diocese." (Mother Minerva)

You too, can be a Delegate!
Talk with those who have represented St. John's in previous years and prayerfully consider standing for election as a Delegate at the 2023 Diocesan Council. It is an honor and a privilege and fun! - and there is a lot to learn about your Church and your Diocese and your fellow parishioners.

Consider This
March, what a great time of year. It’s when the world begins to shake off the cold of winter and transition into longer and warmer days. It signals growth, change, and movement to brighter days. It’s only fitting that this would also be the time we celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day.

I encourage each of you to take a moment to reflect on the amazing women who helped shape you into the person you are today and give them thanks.

ALTAR FLOWER DEDICATIONS
Donations received during Lent will be used for our Easter Lilies.

You may now sign up to dedicate flowers for the altar either on the flower chart in the narthex or online through our website.

  6. God in the Dock

On the final week, April 6th, Professor Dan Joslyn-Siemiatkoski from the Seminary of the Southwest will join us to wrap up our exploration of Christian history.

This is an opportunity to better understand how Christianity got to where it is today and our place in its two-thousand-year-old story. We hope to see you there! The link to the Zoom meeting can be found in the Tuesday Christian Formation email, as well as in the weekly Bridge.

Hope to see you there!

Caring for Each Other
FOR PRAYER AND PASTORAL CARE
A Prayer for Ukraine

God of Peace and Justice, we pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow. that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war and peace, for wisdom, discernment, and compassion to guide their decisions.
Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear, that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
Amen.
Archbishop Justin Welby
Archbishop Stephen Cottrell
