Oscar Rojas
Hi,
My name is Oscar Rojas and I have been attending St. John's Episcopal Church since moving to Austin, TX in March of 2022. I moved to Austin from South Florida, where I had attended the Bethesda by the Sea Episcopal Church in West Palm Beach, FL. Words can't express my gratitude for the warm and caring welcome, and the great love that St. John's has shown me and my 4-year-old daughter, Liliana - who loves Madre Minerva and going to church with her dad! My faith continues to grow stronger at St. John's and I am truly happy and feel blessed to be able to receive my confirmation here. And to share this experience with Liliana, to share God with her, is a true blessing - she reminds me constantly, "Jesus loves us dada"...Amen

Ronda Hall
I have been attending St. John’s Episcopal Church for several years with my partner, Paula Foy. I joined the choir a year or so after we started attending, and I recently became part of the Altar Guild. Even from the beginning, when Sheri Rasmussen offered to fill out a visitor’s card for Paula and me, I have felt welcomed by all the kind people in the church. Mother Minerva recently asked if I had thought about being confirmed, and I decided I was ready to take this official step.
I grew up in Indiana with my parents, an older sister, and a younger brother. We were raised in the United Methodist Church, in which I was baptized and confirmed in fifth grade. I have attended church all my life except for a few years in middle age when I felt the need for a break. During that time, I found spiritual nurturing through yoga and time spent outside in my garden. I’m glad it will include continued worship and fellowship with the St. John’s community.

Meet the Candidates who will be Received | |
Loly Andrade y Manuel Gonzalez
Hello to all brothers and sisters in faith.
My name is Loly Andrade de González; I'm 38 years old. I was born in San Sebastián, El Salvador. I have been married to Manuel González for 13 years. Manuel was born in Usulutan, El Salvador. We form a beautiful family and we have two children; Erickson and Brandon González Andrade. Which we have an arduous task for the education and upbringing of our two children. We were raised in the Catholic Church, but for more than 1 year now we have been congregating in the Episcopal Church of St John. In this community we have found that family union, love and compassion towards others. I am a reader and I like to help in whatever way I can at St John's Church. In it we are teaching our children respect, responsibility, humility and above all love towards others, just as God left us the commandment. Love each other.

Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
Cornerstone Literary Circle is currently reading "Caste: The Origin of Our Discontent" by Isabel Wilkerson. A reviewer for the NYTimes wrote: "Wilkerson’s book is about how brutal misperceptions about race have disfigured the American experiment. This is a topic that major historians and novelists have examined from many angles, with care, anger, deep feeling and sometimes simmering wit."
