Don't Miss our Annual Members Meeting!
November 17 from 4-6 p.m. (networking reception to follow)
Employees and law students of our member organizations are invited to join the PLDIC for its largest member gathering of the year on November 17 from 4-6 p.m. at K&L Gates Center (member networking reception to follow).

The keynote speaker will be Sandra Yamate, CEO of the Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession (IILP), an organization dedicated to creating a more diverse and inclusive legal profession through its research and programs. As IILP’s subject matter expert on diversity and inclusion, Sandra is responsible for all its research and programming. Sandra will join PLDIC Executive Director Ena Lebel for a candid conversation about her professional journey, experience working with law firms and legal departments on their DEI efforts, and the IILP’s latest reports on diversity in the profession. She was recently named as a 2022 recipient of the Justice John Paul Stevens Award.

Member organizations will also hear about the PLDIC’s 2022 accomplishments and 2023 goals and objectives, vote on Board members, and hear updates from our three committees. New this year, we’ll also present the first “PLDIC Volunteer of the Year” award. After the meeting, join your fellow PLDIC members for a networking reception. Please register by Friday, November 11.
Congratulations to our First PLDIC TALI Scholar!
Derrick Maultsby Jr. Named as Emerging Leaders Program Scholarship Recipient
Frost Brown Todd Associate Derrick Maultsby Jr. is our first PLDIC TALI scholarship recipient. Derrick received a $6,000 scholarship to attend The Advanced Leadership Institute (TALI)'s Emerging Leader Program. The Emerging Leaders Program is designed for future Black leaders who are strong individual contributors or in early to mid-manager roles and helps prepare Black professionals to transition to effective leaders. The program begins this month and runs through the end of April. Congratulations, Derrick! Learn more him in our Q&A.
Susan Yohe PLDIC Scholarship Recipients Receive Additional Contribution

The Path to Belonging – Rise Through the Authenticity Principle: a virtual event for legal professionals of color and indigenous peoples

The PLDIC is pleased to welcome back Ritu Bhasin on February 8 from 12-2 p.m. for a virtual event for legal professionals of color and indigenous peoples, The Path to Belonging – Rise Through the Authenticity Principle. Ritu's sessions during our 2020 "Towards a Culture of Inclusion" series were some of our most highly attended programs. She is president of bhasin consulting inc., and an award-winning speaker, author, and globally recognized expert in diversity and inclusion, women’s advancement, and authentic leadership.
Thanks to Everyone Who Attended our Stay Interview CLE!
The PLDIC Retention Committee held a CLE event on October 24, Implementing a Successful Stay Interview Program. More than 30 attendees learned from attorneys who have integrated stay interviews into their employee development programs. The CLE covered different types of stay interview programs and how they were developed and implemented, benefits of stay interviews, and lessons learned by panelists. The event also included small group exercise and rounded out with a happy hour in celebration of Diwali. Attendees received a how-to guide with tips on implementing a stay interview program in their own organizations. A big thank you to member organization Dentons Cohen & Grigsby for hosting this program.

2022 Member Survey Info Session
The Coalition is excited to announce that we will launch the next iteration of our Member Survey on December 31. The results of this survey will be essential to understanding the state of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Pittsburgh legal community. Our Member Survey Committee will host an info session to explain the survey process and answer any questions. Members are welcome to register below!
