The PLDIC Welcomes Three New Members!
Justice at Work
Justice at Work, formerly known as Friends of Farmworkers, has been advancing the rights of workers in Pennsylvania for more than 45 years. While originally focused on agricultural workers, it now provides legal aid, community education, and advocacy to immigrant and low-wage workers across industries. At Justice at Work diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are core values on which the organization stands. They strive to incorporate these values into their substantive work, hiring, promotion, retention, communications, contract and vendor selection, and workplace environment.
At Justice at Work, we believe that we are better at everything we do when we incorporate our core values of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging into all aspects of JAW. We are excited and honored to be formally joining the Pittsburgh Legal Diversity & Inclusion Coalition and we can’t wait to learn alongside other members. We are hoping that this formal partnership brings new ideas and strategies to JAW that will allow us to continue to improve our core work of client representation, along with our broader advocacy.

University of Pittsburgh's Center for Urban Education to Host CUESEF 2022
June 22-25, Virtual
The University of Pittsburgh Center for Urban Education in the Pitt School of Education will host its annual summer educator forum on June 22-25.

This year's forum will feature foundational legal scholars who have shaped our thinking around critical race theory: Cheryl Harris (UCLA), Dorothy Roberts (University of Pennsylvania), Ian Haney-Lopez (UC Berkeley), and Emily Houh (University of Cincinnati). In a broad sense, they will situate state and other political attacks on critical race theory within a historical counterinsurgency on critical pedagogy.

This forum is free, virtual, and open to the public. In addition, the first 50 registrants will receive a copy of "The Spirit of Our Work: Black Women Teachers (Re)member" by keynote speaker Dr. Cynthia B. Dillard.
University of Pittsburgh's Diversity Forum 2022

This year’s theme is “Rewiring Our Systems: Transforming the Intersections of Inequity.”
The forum will feature a dynamic array of keynote programs and community-led sessions that aim to develop social equity consciousness and systems thinking approaches. Programs will address the intersections of social identities and cultivate models for advancing social justice.
The forum is entirely virtual and is free and open to the public.
